Strategic Plan Focus
#RNlearns: In Ms. Penesis' Advanced Engineering class, students found a problem that needed solving: an easier and more efficient way to open classroom windows. Click here to see pics of the redesigned poles that will help keep fresh air flowing in our Collaborative Science Center.
#PanthersImpact: Every year, our seniors venture out into our community and beyond during the 4th quarter to engage in the Senior Internship Program (SIP). Students are working on making those connections and securing that real-world experience. For the most recent information regarding the program, see Ms. Slattery's letter here. We will be publishing updates here as time goes on.
Letters from Anne & Martin Performance
On Wednesday, November 20th, the PTSA brought a special event to Rye Neck High School. Letters from Anne and Martin is a production in which two actors juxtapose the words of Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl with the words of Martin Luther King Jr's Letter from Birmingham Jail. These historical figures were born in the same year--1929--and wrote about very similar ideas, such as inequality, injustice, compassion and the nature of the world that surrounded them. It was a powerfully moving production. Many thanks to the PTSA STEAM Committee.
Outside these Walls . . .
Key Club Making a Difference in Our Community: Students volunteered at the Westchester Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics. Our students helped with registering participants, collecting donations, and supporting the event in various ways. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of everyone involved, the Special Olympics raised over $230,000! We are incredibly proud of our students and their commitment to giving back. See pics here. Collection Drives: Information here.
Science Research: Ella Grann has moved on as a Finalist at the National STEM Festival which celebrates the exceptional talents of our nation's youth. Their mission is to guide bright minds toward careers in STEM and to tackle the world's most pressing challenges. Ella is presenting her project on Inoculating Pond Water to Prevent the Growth of Harmful Algal Blooms which compliments the STEM Festival's designing for the future projects. We wish Ella all the best as she moves toward the Championship level!
Sophomores Explore Careers: Last week, the Class of 2027 attended Career Day at BOCES. Each student selected two careers and participated in workshops/information sessions conducted by professionals in the field. It was a great day!
Model UN: On Saturday November 16, our Model UN participants engaged in debate and discussion with their peers at Brewster High School. Topics included: various crises in World War II, a natural disaster at the Tokyo Olympics, a mission to colonize Mars and decisions to help a consulting company. See pic here. Left to Right: Nathan McCusker, Daniel Fine, Jesse Laurans, Lily Kapustin, Lyvya Guity, Noah Kuehn, Sara Takeuchi, Mateo Fernandes, Hannah Gubitz, and our Model UN Co-President, Bram Raftery.
Around the School . . .
Hold the Phone! Student volunteers finished distributing phone caddies, chargers and "phone zone" signs this week. Signs indicate whether or not phones are allowed to be in use, and students have the option to charge phones while storing them for the period. Special thanks to Aliyah Usman and Gianna Stracuzzi for making it all happen! See pics here!
The RNSF "Give, Grant, Impact" Appeal is here! Now through December 20th, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. Each donation funds grants that bring innovative resources, programs, and experiences directly to Rye Neck students, providing them with opportunities to explore, create and excel. Visit the RNSF WEBSITE to donate today!"
Chocolate for Sale! The class of 2028 is running an online fundraiser! Please show your support by viewing the flyer and making a holiday chocolate purchase. See flyer here.
An Important Reminder: For safety reasons, students are NOT permitted to have food delivered via car services (UberEats, etc.) at school.
