Word From The Woods
Bishop Woods School Newsletter - Week of 6.7.2020
Greetings Bishop Woods Families,
I can not believe we are entering the last week of online instruction. Please note that students should be checking in to morning meeting each day this week, and then using their time to engage in review and/or make up any missed assignments. Morning announcements will also be shared.
While this year did not end as we anticipated, I want to thank everyone for working so diligently to make the best of a difficult situation. Over 80% of Bishop Woods students have been actively engaged in online learning thanks to the efforts of the entire Bishop Woods family.
To our staff ..THANK YOU for working so hard each day, and learning so many new online tools so quickly in order to ensure that teaching and learning continued from a virtual platform. You consistently reached out to families and provided supports wherever needed. I have so much respect for all of you!
To our parents/guardians...THANK YOU so much for all of the support you are providing your children while they are learning at home. I appreciate the many kind words that have been shared with us about our efforts as well. I commend all of your hard work during this trying time, and look forward to our continued partnership next school year.
To our students... I could not be more proud of all of you, and how hard you are working. You learned to send your teachers pictures, create videos, and share your ideas with one another on Google Classroom and other platforms. I miss you every day and can not wait until we are all together in school again!
To our 8th graders...I know how disappointed many of you are that your last year at Bishop Woods did not go as planned. You will overcome this situation, and carry all that you have learned at Bishop Woods with you to high school. Bishop Woods will always be your home, and you are always welcome to come back to visit. I admire each one of you, and am blessed to have been your principal for the past two school years.
On Friday, we released our first 5 Ps VIRTUAL recognition ceremony! Each teacher selected students that demonstrated the 5Ps during online learning:
- Prompt
- Productive
- Prepared
- Positive
- Polite
I am so proud of all of the students that were recognized for this accomplishment! I know there were so many more that could have been recognized as well for demonstrating the 5 Ps these past two months. You can check out the entire ceremony, or click on each teacher to hear their awardees, at the Flipgrid video that is available at the button below this letter.
Please remember that we are passing out Scholastic books next week to all grade levels, along with any personal items that were remaining in students lockers and any medication that was left with our nurse. All 8th graders will receive their cap & tassel, along with their 8th grade t-shirt, on Friday, June 12th. Please note that all 8th grade students, along with students not returning to Bishop Woods next school year, must return any borrowed devices and resources that belong to the school as well. Be sure to adhere to the schedule that is posted below.
Have a wonderful week,
Mrs. Natalino

Below are the links to all three parts of the Energy Bus Readings.
The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon follows George, a kid who woke up to what feels like the worst morning ever. When he thinks he’s missed the bus for school, he only feels it has gotten worse. But the bus driver sees him, stops and lets him on the bus. The bus driver, Joy, helps George and the other students understand that they hold the power to positive attitudes and they have the strength to face any challenges that may come their way.
