Quetzal News
April 24, 2024
From Ms. O's Desk
Dear Quetzal Families,
I am delighted to share some wonderful news with you. Our school takes immense pride in recognizing the outstanding achievements of our students, and today, I am thrilled to congratulate three remarkable individuals who have excelled in the national math Olympiads. First and foremost, let's extend our heartfelt congratulations to Eira Parekh for her exceptional performance, ranking in the top 10% nationally. Eira's dedication to mathematics is truly commendable, and we are immensely proud of her accomplishments. Additionally, I congratulate Emmitt Poskey, and Ansel Patterson for their remarkable achievements, ranking in the top 25% and 30% respectively. Their hard work, perseverance, and passion for mathematics have propelled them to remarkable success, and we celebrate their outstanding accomplishments.
In other news, I encourage you all to take a moment to read the first edition of the Quetzal Chronicles for this school year. This publication is the result of the tireless efforts of Sara Kopit Olson and our dedicated newspaper team. Their commitment to excellence is evident in every page, and I commend them for a job well done.
As we commemorate Earth Day, let us reflect on the importance of caring for our planet. It is crucial that we all play our part in preserving the environment through practices such as recycling, reducing waste, and reusing resources. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for future generations. In the spirit of inclusivity and acceptance, I also want to briefly acknowledge Pride Month. At Gabriela Mistral, we celebrate diversity and promote an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected for who they are.
Lastly, I extend a warm invitation to our Latino community to join the Mountain View Police Department's Latino Advisory Council at Panaderia Imperial (The address is 1919 Latham St.) on April 25th from 7-10am. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together, share ideas, and contribute to the betterment of our community.
On another note, I am looking forward to hosting a movie night to support our the Mountain View Education Foundation (MVEF) . Here is the link to the silent auction. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we can achieve great things.
Warm regards,
Claudia Olaciregui, Principal
