Canvas Support
Canvas provides a variety of 24/7 support and assistance. You have access to Canvas guides and live help 24/7 through chat and a call-in support line.
Should I Cross-list My Courses?
*Recommended Practice: It is always recommended that teachers contact Canvas support to receive support in cross-listing.
Cross-listing allows you to move section enrollments from individual courses and combine them into one course. This feature is helpful for instructors who teach several sections of the same course and only want to manage course data in one location.
- Follow the steps in the video: video. De-cross-listing is complex, so only cross-list when you are certain that you want your courses merged.
Written Directions for Cross-listing - Wait until the week of 8/26 to ensure that all curriculum has been pushed to your course.
- You should only cross-list BEFORE students do any work. Otherwise, cross-listed students will lose access to their assignment submissions and grades since these are stored in their original course site. We suggest doing this at the beginning of the semester prior to publishing your course to students.
- Merge courses before adding content. When the merge is complete, you will no longer have access to the original course spaces. If you have content in the child course, copy it into your sandbox before cross-listing.
- Cross-listing courses will not affect grade passback.
New Canvas Features and Tech Tips
New features and updates will be highlighted in the Tech Tips that will appear in Canvas Announcements each week. Don’t worry if you miss a Tech Tip. In the Innovation in Learning Resource Couse, there is a Tech Tips Repository.

Finding Available Resources
The TrustEd Apps Dashboard in Canvas provides an up-to-date list of available resources. After current subscriptions expire, tools no longer centrally funded will be moved from "essential" to "supplemental" on the Dashboard.
How to Access TrustEd Apps Dashboard
Transitioning from Paid Features
For Classkick and Nearpod, resources linked within the TrustEd Apps Dashboard offer support on switching from paid features to their free alternatives.
Although transitioning from the subscription to the free version will result in limits and feature changes, resources have been made available to support teachers to continue using these tools effectively in their classrooms.
