From the Desk of Mrs. Weekes
Dear Los Pen Families,
What a fun morning we had at LPES! Traffic was a bit "hairier" than usual, what with the Grinch showing up for traffic duty! Contrary to what you may think, the Grinch was not Mrs. Weekes nor Ms. Bohn...so who was it?
We also had some Grinchy helpers delivering bikes to 20 of our outstanding 3rd grade students during our Friday Flag ceremony. We recognized our Character Counts awards winners, and celebrated Mrs. Kaull's Wolverines for most improved attendance, and Mrs. Lougeay's Wildcats for best attendance.
There was no better way to start Winter Break than with Winter Wonderland Pajama Day. We wish you a very healthy and happy holiday season.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Weekes
A Note from Your School Counselor
As we approach winter break, we know that this time of year can bring a mix of emotions. It’s a time that can be filled with excitement, but also overwhelming feelings. Whether your child is looking forward to the holidays or struggling with the change in routine, it’s important to remember that this shift can be challenging for many.
The break from school and regular schedules can sometimes feel like a gift and, at the same time, a challenge. For some kids, the excitement of the holidays and the lack of structure can feel overstimulating. For others, the break from their routine may be unsettling. As parents, it’s natural to feel both joy and a little stress, and it’s okay to acknowledge that not every moment will be perfect.
During this busy time, take some deep breath and practice patience, both you and your child. Winter break is an opportunity to meet your child where they are—whether they’re feeling energized by the excitement, a bit let down by unfulfilled expectations, or thrown off by the changes in their daily routine. You don’t have to create a picture-perfect holiday. Instead, focus on the small moments that make this time special.
Consider embracing the simpler things: the slower mornings without the rush to get out the door, the flexibility of bedtimes, or enjoying a cozy movie marathon together. Sometimes the best memories come from moments of calm and connection.
