It’s election week! That’s right, people across the nation will be voting for the President of the United States, state, and local officials, as well as items that require the voice of the people. Austin ISD is committed to a culture of voting!
Students will NOT HAVE SCHOOL on November 5, and staff will be given time to vote on this same day.
Save the date! Our Annual Family Thanksgiving Luncheon will be on November 14th. Stay tuned for ticket details and lunch times for this special occasion.

Operation Turkey is accepting applications now! Each plate represents a meal for one individual with traditional Thanksgiving Day foods like turkey, stuffing, and vegetables. Did you know our 5th graders have choices for middle school? Last Tuesday, our 5th graders participated in a virtual recruiting showcase with Austin ISD magnet and speciality schools: Lively MS, Kealing MS, Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, Sadler Means Young Women's Leadership Academy, and Garcia Young Men's Leadership Academy. The Enroll Austin Priority Registration application opens November 6th and closes February 4th. This will include registration for neighborhood schools, submissions for application-based programs and transfers. Beginning in November, I will have middle school transition meetings with each 5th grade student. Check out the link below to access the slides from the virtual presentation. The presentation includes each school's specialties and showcases/tours. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns around middle school transitions!

Central Texas Food Bank - Social Services
The Central Texas Food Bank’s social services team is continuing to assist clients with applying for SNAP (along with Medicaid, TANF, Healthy Texas Women, Medicare Savings Program, CHIP and CHIP Perinatal). We offer help with applications remotely and on-site. Our offices are located at 6500 Metropolis Drive, Austin, Texas 78744.
For the safety of our staff and the community we serve, we have implemented social distancing models and can see a limited number of clients at one time on-site at the Food Bank. To get help with applications on-site, please call our hotline to make an appointment first at 855-366-3401.
