Student Attendance Updates
The Olathe School Board has approved eight reasons for students to be excused from school. The reasons are as follows:
- Personal illness
- Serious illness or death of a family member or close friend
- Obligatory religious observation of the student's own faith
- Participation in school approved school activity
- Verified physician or dentist appointments - Physician note required
- Court appearance
- Emergency situations requiring immediate action
- Absence which has been requested in writing and approved in advance by the building principal
- Chart with partial day absences is at the bottom of this Update.
Once the number of absences reaches five or higher, the school team may request a meeting with parents to create a plan of support.

Community Conversations with Olathe’s Board of Education and Superintendent
Community Conversations with Olathe’s Board of Education and Superintendent
Olathe families, community members, students and staff are invited to join members of the Board of Education and superintendent for Community Conversations starting in September. These informal events are designed to encourage two-way dialogue between the Board of Education and community members about the topics that are top-of-mind in the district. There is no set agenda, but rather, participants will have an opportunity to engage in conversation regarding a variety of topics. Various dates and times have been selected for community members to choose a time that works best for them.
All community conversations will be held in the Board of Education room (14160 S. Black Bob Rd., Olathe). Four Community Conversations are planned for the 2024-25 school year, including:
- September 24, 2024 – 9-10:30 a.m.
- November 19, 2024 – 5-6:30 p.m.
- February 20, 2025 – 9-10:30 a.m.
- April 24, 2025 – 5-6:30 p.m.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP in advance. If you intend to join the Tuesday, Sept. 24 Community Conversation, please submit an RSVP at this link by Friday, Sept. 19.

Lunch With Your Timberwolf
We're a big school, so need to implement a few guidelines in order to make this happen.
Guidelines:
- Prior sign-up is required.
- Each slot covers two guests.
- Upon arrival, office staff will check for your sign-up.
- If you did not sign up online for that day, plan to reschedule for a different day.
- Lunch will take place in the cafeteria, as we don't have other available spaces.
- You may bring lunch in for your student, but may NOT share food with other students.
- If you'd like to purchase a school lunch, contact our front office by 9:15 AM to order.
- Payment is not accepted on site, so be sure to have enough $$ on your child's meal account to cover.
Link to sign-up is below.
