Half Day
Green Team Promotes Plastic Free Lunch
Half Day’s Green Team is leading the charge in reducing plastic and waste in the cafeteria by promoting eco-friendly habits among their classmates. They encourage everyone to bring reusable containers for their lunches as seen in these pictures, cutting down on single-use plastics. Additionally, students are learning to properly recycle milk cartons, compost organic material, and sort other recyclable food packaging, ensuring that waste is disposed of responsibly. Through teamwork and education, they make the cafeteria a greener, more sustainable place while setting an example for the whole school community.
The Green Team consists of about 15 students in grades 3-5. As part of the lunchroom activities, Quest Food, the district’s lunch company, participated by handing out compostable eating utensils for the week!

Brad's Bookworm Initiative
Congressman Brad Schneider is launching the sixth annual "Brad's Bookworms" program to encourage reading and learning for elementary school students (grades K-5) and their families!
Children participating in the program are asked to read and log 10 books with help from parents, grandparents, older siblings, or other family members, and track their progress toward this goal. Young people who meet the 10 books goal will be invited with their families to a recognition ceremony with Congressman Schneider to celebrate their achievement. The deadline to complete logs is Sunday, Feb. 2.
