The Great Kindness Challenge
This coming week is Kindness Week at Wildwood. As we practice kindness in its many forms at school, we also encourage you to make it an emphasis in your homes this week. We have included a copy of "The Great Kindness Challenge" and a sweet video about the contagious nature of kindness below to get you started.

Keeping Our Students Safe During Wildfire Season
As we navigate wildfire season here in Thousand Oaks, we want to assure you that student safety remains our top priority. Our team carefully monitors air quality using trusted resources, including the Air Quality Index (AQI), fire-tracking apps, and the California Department of Education (CDE) Air Quality Activity Recommendations (See below).
These tools guide our decisions about outdoor activities to ensure the well-being of our students and staff. When air quality is compromised, we adjust activities accordingly, including moving recess, lunch, P.E., and other outdoor events indoors.
Thank you for your continued trust and support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for partnering with us to create the best learning environment for all students. Let’s make 2025 a year of success—starting with being on time!

Hello Wildwood Families!
As you all know, the last two weeks were spent making slime!! The kids loved it, and we were so lucky to get those tin containers donated for the kids to store their slime in. For those of you who want to give it a go at home, here's the recipe I used:
Butter Slime
- ½ oz Model Magic clay (comes in 1 oz packages and I just cut them in half)
- 2 T Elmer's glue
- 1 T Slime activator (you can buy premade online)
Mix glue and activator together. Once blended start folding in clay until your slime comes together. Have fun!!
We will be doing density experiments next!
I would love to make ice cream with the kids but need 3 lb metal coffee containers with the plastic lids for our mixing. If you or your work use them, I would love the empty containers. I've seen them sold at Costco so hopefully someone out there in our community buys their coffee in bulk!
Other wish list items (open and partially used is total fine):
- Corn Starch (the kids are begging to make Oobleck again this year)
- Vegetable Oil (for a density experiment)
- Corn syrup (density again!)
- tin foil
- baking soda

FUN & Easy Volunteer Opportunities
We are excited to share two wonderful opportunities to volunteer at Wildwood and make a positive impact on our students’ school experience!
Create: Arts & Crafts with Students
- When: Thursdays, 9:15 AM - 10:45 AM
- What: Join us for a fun, hands-on session where students get to express their creativity through arts and crafts. This is a highlight of their week and a great way to connect with them!
Take a Look, Take a Book
- When: Last school day of the month, 9:15 AM - 10:45 AM (first recess)
- What: Help students check the lost and found and pick out a book to take home. This event encourages reading while giving students a sense of ownership and excitement about books.
If you’re interested in volunteering for one or both events, please let me know as soon as possible. We would love to have your help in creating these memorable experiences for our students.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference at Wildwood!
