Superintendentโs Honor Roll Recognizes Academic Excellence
Coronado High School received a 5-star rating, with strong performances in its graduation rate and academic achievement, English language proficiency, and college and career readiness indicators.
โCoronadoโs consistent performance over the last decade has been a result of fantastic, hard-working students and faculty,โ Principal Mike Piccininni said. โOver time, the expectation of performance, and the expectation of results, garners a culture of achievement.โ
PSAT Scores... Here's how to get yours!
Did you recently take the PSAT?
For the students that recently participated in the PSAT/NMSQTยฎ or SATยฎ School Day, scores became available to students on October 24. We want to remind you thereโs now an easy way for students to quickly view scores and more with the new BigFutureยฎ School mobile app!
Hereโs how it works:
โข Students who provided their mobile number during digital exam setup will receive a text message when their scores are available. Theyโll need their phone number to securely access the app, but no password is required.
โข In addition to their scores, theyโll see a sample list of growing careers in their state that connect to the math, reading, and writing skills they demonstrated on the PSAT/NMSQT or SAT.
โข Students can opt in to Connectionsโข to hear from institutions that may be a good fit.
โข Students who canโt or donโt want to use the app can still get their scores via a PDF report from their school or by logging in to their College Board account.

From Bad Grades to a Great Life!
When kids bring home disappointing grades, parents are often upset and respond with frustration, lectures, and even anger.
The first thing to remember is that the responsibility for a childโs grades belongs to the child, not to us. Although itโs easy to blame ourselves when kids perform poorly, itโs very important for our mental health, and for the mental health of our kids, to remember the following points.
- We canโt do the learning for our children.
- Many highly accomplished individuals faced academic challenges in their youth.
- Always respond with genuine empathy and understanding.
Here are two examples that contrast typical parental responses, one delivered with anger and frustration and the other delivered with empathy.
Thisโฆ
โLook at these grades! These are unacceptable!โ
Or thisโฆ
โOh man! I bet these grades are really disappointing for you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. The good news is that this doesnโt change the way I feel about you.โ
Thisโฆ
โHow many times have I told you to get your homework done, and you ignored me! I am sick and tired of reminding you! You're grounded!โ
Or thisโฆ
โOh man. I can understand getting too busy to remember to do your chores and your homework. What do you think you can do to help you remember your homework? Let me know if you want some ideas.โ
Instead of battling over grades, consider exploring my book, From Bad Grades to a Great Life! If it doesnโt completely change your life, Iโll buy it back!
Thanks for reading!
If this is a benefit, forward it to a friend. Our goal is to help as many families as possible.
