He was resilient, he was hard working, he was mentally tough...Mamba Mentality: Never give up, always work hard, pursue your passion. He was also a storyteller. 🏫💙🏫This Month's "Meet the Staff" is our Second Grade Team! From Left to Right: Ms. Bergstrom, Ms. Keesee, Ms. Correa and Mrs. Radosevich. 🏫 💙 🏫
I’m Ms. Bergstrom, and I’m one of the second grade teachers at Dearborn Elementary. This is my fourth year teaching at Dearborn, and my 14th year teaching in elementary school. I received my B.A. in history from UC Berkeley, and my M.A. in Education from Pepperdine University. In my free time I enjoy rowing with a crew team in Marina Del Rey. I was on the crew team in college, and still love going out onto the water in the morning! I also love spending time with my family and our golden retriever, Francis. We spend time watching football and taking the dog to outdoor patio restaurants. More than anything else however, I love teaching second grade!
My name is Ms. Keesee. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from CSUN with a degree in Child Development and a teaching credential. I have had the pleasure of teaching first through third grade here at Dearborn for the past 21 years. I feel incredibly fortunate to have joined the Dearborn family immediately after completing my student teaching. What is even more special is that I now teach from the very room where I first started learning the ropes. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my three rescue dogs: Hagrid and Bear, two energetic lab mixes, and Gryffin, my gentle giant Irish Wolfhound. When I am not enjoying their company, you will often find me hitting the pavement as an avid runner. A fun fact about me is that I have completed over 50 half marathons.
My name is Elsa Correa. This is my 21st year of teaching. I started out teaching kindergarten here at Dearborn. I taught it for 6 years. I then moved on to teach second grade. This school is like a second home. Both my kids and niece have attended Dearborn. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Both my parents were born in Mexico. I attained my Bachelors degree from CSUN in Liberal Studies. In my free time I like spending it with adorable weiner dog. He is what makes me the most happy. I also like to work on paint by numbers while listening to some music. I love to go to concerts and plan to attend quite a few this year.
Inside room 29 lives a bunch of amazing students that Mrs. Radosevich has the pleasure of teaching. This is her 26th year teaching at Dearborn. Before becoming a teacher at Dearborn, she taught in many grade levels from kindergarten to middle school. Teaching many ability levels adds much excitement to the day. Figuring out what makes learning work for each student in all the different subject areas keeps everyone on their toes. Her path to the classroom began at UCSB, continued at CSUN where she got her teaching credential and later a master's degree in education. She loves to continue learning with training in phonics, Orton-Gillingham, gifted and talented education, and most recently new math and thinking map practices. When not in the classroom, she loves to travel somewhere every year. She has been to over 40 countries on 6 continents!

Honoring Both Presidents
February 22 was celebrated as a holiday by 19th-century Americans. At least a dozen states officially celebrate the third Monday in February as “Washington and Lincoln’s Birthday,” and another dozen states call it “Presidents’ Day.” In 1971, Congress fixed Washington’s Birthday and several other holidays on Mondays to create long holiday weekends.
