As the principal of Horizon Leadership Academy, I am filled with immense pride as I reflect on the remarkable achievements and vibrant activities our school has experienced. As February progresses, we celebrate our past successes and anticipate the exciting prospects on the horizon.

January marked the start of our year with the successful Mental Wellbeing Week, featuring a series of activities that promoted mental health and culminated with an informative seminar. It was inspiring to see our community come together to prioritize mental wellness, and my gratitude extends to everyone who participated and contributed to these valuable experiences.

In the realm of academics, our students have excelled, demonstrating their extraordinary talent in the International Math Challenge and earning top honors. Their hard work was equally matched by their achievements at the Copernicus Science Olympiad, where we were recognized with the highest medal count, thanks to the unwavering support and mentorship of our faculty.

We are also proud of our gifted linguists who have advanced to the district Spelling Bee. Their success is a reflection of their dedication and the high-caliber support provided by Horizon Academy. I extend my thanks to these students for their impressive accomplishments and to all of our teachers for their continued support.

Adding to our list of accolades is our success in the First Lego League Challenge, where our students' innovative skills earned us a spot in the regional competition. This achievement is a shining example of what Horizon students are capable of when creativity meets technology.

As we look to the future, we are excited to begin enrollment for the 2024-2025 academic year. With a goal to increase diversity within our school, we invite you to join us in supporting this initiative. Horizon Leadership Academy is proud to announce that Asel Sen and Betul Selma Anderoglu have won our school's Spelling Bee in the elementary and middle school divisions, respectively. They are now preparing for the district Spelling Bee from February 12th to 15th. We wish them the best of luck and thank Ms. Aysenur Ozcan and Ms. SadeeRae Williams for their exceptional coaching. Let's all support Asel and Betul Selma as they represent our school!

Horizon Leadership Academy celebrates its stellar performance at the Copernicus Science Olympiad. Congratulations to Muhammad Siddik for winning Gold and placing 2nd overall, and to our Silver and Bronze medalists—Azra Yuksel, Azra Keskin, Bekiralp Sarikaya, Zeynep Ugur, Emine Tangil, Oysha Siddik, Etka Polat, and Ali Burak Khuatbek. Kudos also to Inji Azizli and Zeynep Karatay for receiving honorable mentions. Thanks to Ms. Iclal Yuksel for her support. Our academy proudly holds the highest medal count, exemplifying our commitment to academic excellence.

Horizon Leadership Academy applauds its students' success at the International Math Challenge. Akmaral Khuatbek took home a bronze medal in Category 2, while in Category 3, Betül Kaya received an honorable mention, Ferat Shemsack won bronze, and Etka Polat earned silver. Thanks to Ms. Canan Cetin and Mr. Ridvan Yildirim for their dedication. Congratulations to our math stars for their achievements and for setting high standards in mathematical excellence.

Horizon Leadership Academy's Mental Wellbeing Week, held January 22-26, offered a range of activities focused on mental health. Students and staff enjoyed Mindful Coloring, a musical show by our music teacher Mr. Lewis Eichelberger, and a session on Mindful Breaths and Yoga with Nicole Fife. We also watched funny videos for stress relief and ended the week with an informative mental health seminar. Together, we reinforced the importance of mental wellbeing in our school community.

We are excited to announce that Horizon Leadership Academy has qualified for the regional round of the First Lego League Challenge. Our talented team has earned the opportunity to advance to the second stage of the competition thanks to their hard work and innovative thinking. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Seher Dogan for her guidance and support throughout this journey. Join us in congratulating our students as they prepare to take on the next challenge and continue to represent our academy with pride.

Join us at Horizon Leadership Academy as we mark an important milestone in our academic year—the 100th day of school—with an inventive celebration that invites all our students to tap into their artistic side. We're encouraging children to personalize a plain T-shirt at home using any mix of 100 items they desire, such as safety pins, buttons, fuzzy balls, and a plethora of other creative materials. This activity is designed to foster creativity, self-expression, and a sense of accomplishment as they reach the 100-day mark. To showcase the students' hard work and imagination, we're hosting a colorful parade on February 1st where everyone can show off their uniquely decorated T-shirts. We're eagerly anticipating the array of inventive T-shirts and can't wait to see how each student uses different elements to express their individuality.

Get ready to show your skills and team spirit, as Horizon Leadership Academy is hosting a Soccer Tournament from February 19th to 23rd at our very own soccer field. This event promises to be a thrilling competition where students can demonstrate their soccer prowess, engage in healthy competition, and enjoy the camaraderie of the sport. We encourage all students to come out and participate, whether you're playing on the field or cheering from the sidelines. It's going to be an exciting week of matches, where we'll see teamwork, strategy, and athletic talent on display. Don't miss the chance to be part of this vibrant school event, where we celebrate sportsmanship, physical fitness, and school spirit. Mark your calendars, lace up your cleats, and let's make this soccer tournament a memorable one for the Horizon Leadership Academy community!
