GBHS Community-

As the saying goes… April Showers Bring May Flowers! I’m not sure if this applies to late April snow as well, but I am hopeful that warmer weather is just around the corner!

More importantly, the month of May is a month of excitement and celebration around campus as we begin the traditional sequence of events that honor the hard work of our graduating senior class. Or students will dress to impress for Prom in Troy on May 6, receive their academic honors the evening of May 10 in the Tartoni Center, celebrate their last day of high school at the Senior All Night Party on May 20, and walk across the stage at commencement on June 1 in the brand new stadium. Campus will also be busy with 100s of students completing advanced placement exams, spring athletes chasing championships, national honor society student inductions and all students working hard to have a successful conclusion to the academic year.

Finally, I ask that everyone remind our students to stay focused and make good decisions over the final 6 weeks of school. I know the excitement of warm weather and summer break can get everyone a little “amped up,” but it is important to remain focused on a strong finish to the school year. Thank you in advance for reminding your student how important finishing the year the right way is to them and our school community.

The pictures shown below highlight the commitment of the staff at Grand Blanc High School to support and invest in your children's education. As you may know, the tulips that are currently blooming at our East and West Campus were planted last fall, by our teachers, as a symbol of this commitment.

The staff at GBHS understands that investing in your child's education means much more than simply providing a good education. It means investing in the unseen, the intangibles that make all the difference in a student's success. This includes creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, providing emotional support, and encouraging students to pursue their passions and interests.

Starry Night - 2023 Prom - San Marino Club - May 6th - Troy 6-11 pm

Prom tickets were available from April 4th to April 10th for seniors using the link below.

Tickets are $90 and include dinner and transportation to and from the venue. No tickets will be available at the door. The red carpet will begin at 3 pm and end at 5 pm. The carpet will lead into the Tartoni Gym where you will wait to load the buses at 5:15 pm sharp. The buses will leave The San Marino Club at 11 pm and arrive back at Grand Blanc High School around midnight.

Buses - After you have purchased your ticket please use the link below to sign up for 1 bus (do not sign up friends) that will take you to and from the venue. You may not change this selection once you sign up. If you are bringing a guest please leave their name in the comment section.

Guest Passes - If you would like to bring a guest you need to pick up a guest pass from the admin office at East Campus only. Guest passes must be completed and returned no later than April 14th.

Parking - Please park in the upper lot or the back of the lower lot at East Campus. The charter buses will park in the front of the lower lot.

Bobcat Time continues to be a great success. Staff and students are engaging in interactive lessons and activities with an emphasis on positive behaviors around discipline, academics, and social interactions. All students engage in the same activities, designed to align with the current happenings at the school. Our hope for this time is to develop a stronger community in our classrooms and hallways, while also promoting behaviors that increase student success. All of our Bobcat Time lessons, activities, and materials are available to students and parents through the Bobcat Time website.

A College Board account is required of all students. If you do not have a College Board account set up, please do so at www.collegeboard.org . The student needs to be the one to set this up. Do not set up a second account. This account is needed for PSAT9, PSAT10, and SAT review, score viewing, and score sending to colleges. Please keep your login and password somewhere where you can find it as needed. These accounts are sometimes used during class time. If you already set up an account and cannot remember your login and password information, please call College Board at 1-866-756-7346. Staff do not have access to students information.

Attention Students…

School Breakfast… We encourage all students to eat a nutritious breakfast which will better prepare them for their school day. Research shows that students who eat breakfast:

*Score better on standardized tests.

*Improve academic achievement

*Have fewer health issues

*Behave better in class.

ALL STUDENTS are eligible to participate in the school breakfast program.

If you walk, take a bus or come to school by car, you may still have breakfast at school.

If you receive a free or reduced price lunch you also receive a free or reduced price breakfast. There is no extra paper work required.
