A Message From Mr. Johnson:
Hello Sandhill Families,
We had a successful week of Family Conferences, and it was truly wonderful seeing so many of you. These opportunities to connect mean a lot to us, and we hope they were just as valuable for you.
A big thank you to Working For Kids (WFK) for hosting a wonderful Fall Festival! Our goal for this event is not to make money but to build a sense of community. What we saw was a group of families having fun and getting to know each other, and we believe events like this are what make Sandhill such a special place. Enjoy the photos from the event below!
When it comes to Halloween, since we provide an outlet for costumes at the Fall Festival, I usually do not encourage costumes at school. Accidents happen, and costumes can unintentionally get damaged. However, if your child would still like to wear a costume, please make sure it follows the school dress code, is appropriate, and keeps their face fully visible. Our top priority is always safety.
A special thank you to WFK for providing dinner for our staff during conferences this past Wednesday evening—it was much appreciated!
On Wednesday, we also had an unplanned fire drill. While we try to minimize disruptions, sometimes these things happen. We’re proud of how our students and staff handled the situation with poise and professionalism.
Please remember there is No School Tomorrow (10/25) and also No School Next Friday (11/1).
As always, thank you for your support, and please reach out if you have any questions!
Have a great long weekend!
Bob/Mr. Johnson

Our lost and found was on display for family conferences. At this point it is mostly sweatshirts. If you are missing one, please check by next Friday 11/1. On that date, anything left over will be donated.
Outdoor Recess
With the weather starting to get colder, please review the excerpt from Administrative Guideline number 5360.
The following guidelines will be used for student[s] at recess time:
- 60+ degrees - Elementary students do not need a coat at recess.
- 35-59 degrees - Elementary students need to wear a jacket or at least have long sleeves.
- 35 degrees and below - Elementary students need to wear a coat, gloves and hat.
The District's practice is to have outdoor recess as long as the wind chill temperature is -5 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer.

Wow! Can we just acknowledge for a moment how great the Fall Festival was last week?!
Thank you so much to all of our awesome volunteers! Whether you helped with the games, helped with concessions, or donated food or money, this event could not have happened without you. And thank you for bringing your kids! These community building events are so much fun, and it's great to see our students having a great time together outside of the school day!
And last but not least, a huge shout-out to Wesley Thompson for taking the charge and organizing this event each year!
If you are interested in becoming more involved in Working For Kids, please let us know. We are always looking for more help with planning events for our students, staff appreciation, fundraising, and more. Working For Kids is a great organization and a really great way to get to know your kid's school and be involved. We'd love to have you join us!
Thanks, again, and have a great weekend!
