ACTING PRINCIPALS KORERO
Kia ora koutou,
I loved walking round the school during the Shared Kai event today - organised by last week’s principal of the Day Owen. Such a joy to see sharing, tasting new things and enjoying each other’s company at lunch. It is another way in which our learners embody our school values as they step up, try new things, and support one another in a range of exciting activities.
Our Swimming Sports Competition was a fantastic showcase of determination, teamwork, and school spirit. It was wonderful to have students giving their best effort in the pool, cheering each other on, and celebrating personal achievements. Ka pai, everyone!
We are also proud to have our talented choir learning new music and stepping up to eventually be representing our school with passion and confidence. Their dedication to rehearsals and their enthusiasm for singing are a true reflection of the power of commitment and creativity.
A special highlight was our participation in the WOMAD Workshop, where learners engaged with diverse music and cultures, broadening their horizons and embracing new experiences.
Our Epro8 lunchtime club is developing and we invite you to join us Tuesday and Thursday to support our young learners from year 6-8 as they build skills towards the EPro8 competition later in the year.
If you have ideas on ways that brought our school community together, reinforcing the importance of connection, generosity, and whanaungatanga. Please let us know. Sharing food, stories, and laughter reminds us all of the strength of our school whānau and wider community.
Have a very good weekend,
Gemma

Pukeiti Tahi - Room 16 New Entrants
Our amazing 5-year-olds are blossoming! They're enthusiastically diving into the world of letters, especially the sounds 's,' 'a,' 't,' 'p,' 'i,' 'n,' 'm,' and 'd.' We're seeing them build strong friendships, sharing laughter and learning together. They're also settling into our daily routines, showing growing independence and responsibility. It's a joy to watch them learn and grow, building a solid foundation for their learning journey!
Pre-enrolment at CTS
Kia ora koutou,
Whaea Annie, our new entrant teacher, is planning ahead. If you know of any preschoolers in our community, who may be turning five in the next year or two please share this Pre-enrolment at CTS with their families. Even if you have a child at the school already please fill the form out. It only takes a few minutes to do, but it is really important that we have an idea of student numbers so that we can plan ahead. This also ensures that all new families have all the information they need around Transition to School visits.

EPRO8
What is EPro8?
The EPro8 Challenge is the inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 35,000 students from throughout New Zealand take part.
Students participate in a series of events: firstly within their school and then inter-school.
These events are designed to promote science, engineering and problem solving.
Here are a couple of photos from our session on Thursday. These teams finished their first project. They had to make a fire engine with a moveable ladder.

Surf Team Week 6
We had a beautiful sunny afternoon surf at Weld Road with light winds and small waves. We practised paddling, spinning our boards round quickly, duck diving and turtle rolling in the river. It's important to learn how to maneuver your board quickly, so you can surf more waves and stay safe. Being able to keep hold of your board in the line up and when paddling out keeps yourself and other water users safe. Here's a link to a video teaching duck diving - bringing your board with you under the wave, when paddling out.

Our surfers are showing great commitment and perseverance. I love how Ben, Enzo, Louis, Eleni, Joley and Ziggy have been turning up consistently and doing their best. Thanks to Duncan, Ole and Rick for their help this week.
March 11th we've got Joley Parker competing in the Intermediate School Champs (year 7 and 8) at Fitzroy.
