VOLLEYBALL MAKES STATE DEBUT
For the first time in school history, our #PointerNation Volleyball team qualified for the WIAA State Tournament! The Pointers did so with a convincing 3-0 sweep of Fall River on our home court in the Sectional Final.
State was held at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Unfortunately, our team fell short 3-2 to Eau Claire Regis in the WIAA State Semifinal Thursday.
Congrats on a memorable season, one that will long be remembered!

Thank you, Pointer Nation.
We are deeply grateful for the results of this operating referendum election and for the ongoing engagement and support of our community.
As one of the oldest publicly supported schools in the state, we take stewardship of resources seriously and are appreciative of the trust you place in us.
This investment enables us to take important steps forward in addressing current fiscal needs in our pursuit of continued excellence for every student that walks through our doors.
A sincere thank you again for your support of our students and staff. Mineral Point is a special place.
Sincerely,
Superintendent Mitch Wainwright

COOKIE ELECTION
Kindergarten voted in their very own election! They had to pick between chocolate chip or Oreo cookies. It was a hard choice for many!
MATH MEDALISTS
Mathlete superheroes! On Wednesday, 28 of our math team members attended the 51st annual UW-Platteville High School Math Contest.
For this contest, students take two tests, one individual and one team. Students are broken into two levels, Level 1 being Freshmen and Sophomores and Level 2 being Juniors and Seniors. Schools are then placed in a Division based on their enrollment. This year our teams competed in Division 3.
-- Individual award winners are selected based on their scores on the individual test. This year, Ethan Hook and Anthony Buleje Cadena received medals for the Level 2 test, and Johnny Robinson and Faye Schuette received this honor for the Level 1 test!
-- The team scores are a sum of team members' individual scores at both levels and the scores on the team test at both levels. This year, our Mineral Point Blue Team placed 3rd and brought home a team plaque! Team members included Bryce Drury, Nolan Allendorf, Donna Hirsch, Faye Schuette, Johnny Robinson, Hank Allbright, Violet Renwick, Kalea Biddick, Landyn Moellers, Anthony Buleje Cadena, Liz Hoffman, Cole Hentrich, Lila Thousand, and Ethan Hook.
Thank you to all participants for representing Mineral Point High School very well!
FALL CLEANUP
Let's have a hand for our 5th graders! They helped with fall cleanup at Shake Rag Alley again this year, packing up the campus for winter, storing chairs, raking, and removing decor.
LINE LANDSCAPE
Check out these great line landscape drawings from our 4th graders! A line landscape is a landscape that uses lines to create form, space, and movement, as well as to guide the viewer's eye.
FBLA FALL CONFERENCE
Members of our Future Business Leaders of America chapter traveled to Stevens Point last week for the Wisconsin FBLA Fall Leadership Conference! The crew was able to hear an inspiring message from Miss Wisconsin Mandi Genord of Beaver Dam.
GO BIG BLUE
We can't hide our Pointer Pride!
THE BARBER OF SEVILLE
Figaro, Figaro, Figaro! Members of our high school choir were treated to a performance of Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" at the Overture Center by Madison Opera last week!
FRANCE
1st Graders left the country and headed to France! They learned about how a goat named Billy joined the army and went to war with the soldiers. This is a true story, too!
VETERANS DAY ART
5th Graders made some wonderful patriotic pieces to display for Veterans Day!
JACK O'LANTERNS
Class Jack O'Lanterns were a big hit! Students carved together and felt the seeds, pulp, and used all of their senses to learn more about pumpkins.
PATRIOTIC FRIENDS
It's never too early to learn the importance of Veterans Day -- just ask our 4K friends!
THANK YOU SENIORS
Our Pointers are all heart!
Unfortunately, our #PointerNation Volleyball team fell short 3-2 to Eau Claire Regis in Thursday's WIAA State Semifinal in Green Bay. We are so incredibly proud of all you've accomplished during this historic season, and you will always be remembered in Pointer lore as the first volleyball team to ever be a state qualifier! A special thank you to our Seniors for an amazing four years!

EIE GRANT
1st Graders start each day with conversation and collaboration with friends! These materials were purchased with funds from a grant awarded to Mrs. Penny Wiegel for a project titled "Help Firsties Start Their Day with Smiles and Creativity." This grant was made possible by the Roger & Mary Ivey Mineral Point Excellence in Education Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
"The goal of this project is to allow the students in my classroom opportunities to start their days building, collaborating, and conversing with friends, which helps them make a smooth transition to the school day. As you can see by the smiles on their faces, it is a great success! What a great place for our students when we have such awesome community support!" said Wiegel.

It’s that time of year again–please consider nominating Mineral Point educators for the following Herb Kohl Awards. CAREER FAIR
The Mineral Point High School is hosting a Career Fair Wednesday, November 13 from 9 am until 2 pm. We have several local businesses that have reserved a booth for our students to learn more from. This is a "fair style" event - each participant will have a table to display parts of your career and our students will rotate through to learn more about your career and the pathway you took to get there.
We have 8 to 10 tables left to be reserved. If you would like to reserve one and join us for an awesome day and help our students learn about your career, please email Middle/High School Counselor Erika Brunson at erika.brunson@mp.k12.wi.us
While all are welcome, we would love to have additional representation from the the following career clusters, if possible - Arts/Communications/Media/Marketing, Information Technology, Government, and Business Management.
Thank you for considering!

SOURCES OF STRENGTH COMMUNITY NIGHT
We are excited to host a Sources of Strength Community Night Monday, November 18 at the elementary school from 6-8 pm! Register now as space is limited: https://forms.gle/63fYvm2bNQJAt4yJ8
Sources of Strength trains student leaders, along with caring adults, in a mission to help make a difference and spread hope, help, and strength in our school and community.
The Sources of Strength Community Night is designed to introduce Sources of Strength and hope, help, and strength-based messaging to the greater community. The training will cover the core philosophy behind upstream and strength-based prevention, Social Network Theory, safe messaging strategies, and protective factors.
After this training, community members will have increased skill as Trusted Adults for students (the number one protective factor for preventing suicide and many other risk factors) and create strategies to integrate strength-focused contact into community organizations and businesses in communication with others, and within their own work life balance.
The training will provide an understanding, involvement and common language around strength and resiliency and highlight the implementation and ongoing messaging processes of the local Sources of Strength Peer Leaders. The training will also highlight the services of local organizations, agencies and prevention groups and connect community members to available resources. Through high energy games, conversations, storytelling and experiential learning, community members will be able to internalize Sources of Strength and learn to tap into those strengths throughout their lives, including when supporting others.
Childcare may be available during the community training (more information to be shared at a later date).
If you have questions, please contact Dani Robb, School Social Worker, at dani.robb@mp.k12.wi.us
