PICTURES & NEWS
WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS
Fifty two students and twenty adults (72 total) walked to school on the only Walking Wednesday scheduled for December 23. The low temperatures during the walk may have had something to do with the modest turnout. Amazingly, the group that collected at Taylor Park maintained participation numbers similar to those seen in the warmer months.
SPHERO ROBOTS ASSOCIATED WITH WALKING WEDNESDAY
The day prior to Walking Wednesday, Ms. Teenyanoff and Mr. Craib visited the cafeteria at lunch to showcase the sphero robots and to let kids know they would be at the next day's walking event. The robots were popular although disruptive to the process of getting students through the lunchtime meal efficiently.
As advertised, Ms. Teenyanoff showed up at Taylor Park with Sphero rolling robots for Walking Wednesday. Students took turns testing them out at the park and on the way to school. The cold conditions were a real challenge. Children had to take their gloves off to control the rolling robots with their touch on some very cold iPads.

WALKING WEDNESDAY HAT RAFFLE WINNERS
There were 10 winners from the group of 52 students who walked. That meant walkers had a roughly 1 in 5 chance of winning. Here are photos of six of the winners.
TRIUMPH 4TH GRADE NATIONAL PARKS PROJECT
Ms. Draper (Triumph) and Ms. Teenyanoff (Makerspace) partnered up to teach students a range of research and reporting skills based on our national park system. Students could look into books and websites about some of the more famous parks to learn about their history, fun facts, and park activities. They could also explore park webcams showing wildlife and in-season landscapes. Students had to document and share their learning through writing and completion of checksheets.
Here are 14 Pictures of the students doing their research work.
