The BHS Newsletter, 32nd Edition: Monday, April 21, 2025
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Students, Parents, Faculty, and Staff,
I hope everyone had a long, restful Easter Weekend. The extra day off and rain early Sunday morning made for a beautiful weekend. We are down to just 5 weeks of school left... Let's see how much stuff we can pack into these last 5 weeks! Lol... :)
***Please find time each week to read ALL of "THE LEAD DOG" as we try to publicize and celebrate all the good things happening at Boerne High School. It is also a place where many people share information and advertise events for you and your students to participate in.
Our Freshmen (English 1) and Sophomores (English 2) did a great job of EOC testing last week. Now, we shift gears and will test Biology and US History EOCs this week. Our AP classes are also shifting gears, starting to prepare for the AP exams in early May.
Our Juniors (US History) and Freshmen (Biology) will be testing on Tuesday (April 22nd) and Wednesday (April 23rd), respectively. We will complete EOC (STAAR) testing next week with Algebra 1 on Thursday, May 1st. It is imperative everyone knows that these are tests that students are required to take and pass to graduate. So, we must have all Freshmen and Juniors attend on their testing day and do their very best. Good luck to the EOC testers this week... they have been working hard all year and are prepared to be successful!
This week's message:
"It's not about wanting it more than anyone else. It's about putting in the work no one else will." - Brad Johnson

Hey, Greyhounds! We are in the final stretch of the school year. Please be sure you are working hard in all your classes and making arrangements to attend tutorials as needed to ensure you are passing and earning credits towards graduation requirements.
Dual Credit:
The Northwest Vista College application deadline was last Friday, March 28th. Any student who has applied and requested a dual credit course will need to ensure they have met the testing requirements for entry. You can locate the requirements in the BISD course catalog or by reaching out to your student’s counselor. 2025-2026 Boerne ISD Course Catalog
Students: Please join the Dual Credit Google Classroom using the following code: jfjgiiu
Seniors:
Students will need to upload a photocopy of their completed FASFA/TASFA to our Google form. If you and your student are not applying for the FAFSA/TASFA, an opt-out form is available for students to complete and return.
In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), §28.0256, beginning with students enrolled in Grade 12 during the 2021-2022 school year, a student must complete and submit a free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) or a Texas application for state financial aid (TASFA) as a requirement for high school graduation.
Financial Aid Application Graduation Requirement State law requires all students enrolled in grade 12 to submit a financial aid application to graduate. Financial aid applications inform postsecondary institutions’ decisions about student eligibility for federal, state, and institutional funds. To complete the financial aid application requirement for graduation, high school seniors must take one of the following actions:
• Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
• Complete and submit the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)
• Submit a signed opt-out form Opt-Out Form
A student may graduate without completing a financial aid application by submitting an opt-out form signed by the student’s parent or guardian, counselor, or the student if age 18 or older to authorize the student to decline to submit a financial aid application. Students who have emancipated from their parents and are under the age of 18 are authorized to sign the form. A parent can also decline to complete the financial aid application by signing the opt-out form. The opt-out form is available on the Texas Education Agency website in English and Spanish at https://tea.texas.gov/academics/college-career-and-military-prep/financial-aid-requirement.
Students can also request a copy of the opt-out form from their high school counselor. It’s important to note that students who opt out can still complete and submit a financial aid application at any time if they change their mind.
*Multiple scholarships are posted in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom, and deadlines are quickly approaching. Please have your student access Google Classroom to complete the scholarship applications.

Boerne HS Campus Behavior Expectations...
Parents,
We ask that you review our "Campus Behavior Expectations" with your student. If your student wants to be successful at Boerne HS academically, socially, and emotionally, these three simple, easy expectations can be followed. As faculty and staff, we plan to model these behaviors to our students daily. We will be visiting with and reminding our students about these expectations consistently and ask that you do the same.
Be prompt and productive - be where you are supposed to be, when you are supposed to be there, and do what you are supposed to do.
Have respect for yourself and others - when you have respect, you make good, thoughtful choices considering everyone's feelings and beliefs.
See something, say something - be a voice for someone when they can't. If you see or know something is wrong, alert an adult you know ASAP. Don't overlook something you know is wrong.
