Important Info about Next School Year
This year has been a wonderful year for our students, teachers, and families. As we navigate towards the end of the 2023-24 school year, it is time to begin preparing for another wonderful school year. I would like to share with you three pieces of information for you to consider as we move into planning for next year that include course requests for returning and incoming students, open enrollment dates, and the 2024-25 school calendar.
- Course Requests: Over the past three weeks, our counselor has been focused on getting into classrooms to speak with returning students about the class offerings students can select from next year. Students had an opportunity to review their individual transcript and determine what additional classes they would need and like to take next year that would allow them to graduate with an endorsement. Students were to get a course request form filled out, signed out by a parent, and returned to the office. Based on the courses requested, we will determine which courses we offer and the number of course sections we need to offer. Because of the impact this information has on developing our master schedule and determining teacher assignments, next year schedule changes will be very limited and only on a need basis.
- In addition, if your child is planning to take dual credit courses next year, there is a mandatory dual credit meeting on April 4th from 6 to 7 pm in our gym. During this meeting we will discuss changes that we are making to ensure students are adequately prepared for dual credit courses. Also, Howard College and our counselor will assist parents to fill out required forms needed for students to be able to register for dual credit classes next year.
- Open Enrollment: Our numbers did increase from the year prior, and we do anticipate another year of growth. Please keep in mind that we are a public charter school, a school of choice. We do have limited capacity as this year we did have an ongoing wait list. If you would like for your child to secure their spot to return, be sure to complete the registration for next year. Open Enrollment will be April 3rd to April 14th.
- 2024-25 Calendar: The district released the 2024-25 school calendar. If you are needing it to make summer travel plans, please see the calendar below.
