We are the PACK!
Smiley Thoughts
PACK Guardians and Students,
Please read the important items below and scroll down to see what is coming up in the near future!
Yearbook pictures - In addition to looking for some 1st day of school pics, we would love to have any of your great student pictures for consideration in the yearbook! You can use this yearbook google folder to upload them in addition to the first day pics folder.
Panorama Survey - Coming up in February, our campus will participate in the "Panorama Survey" where your Husky will be able to provide feedback regarding their experiences with teachers/classrooms. This is completely anonymous and the campus is only given feedback data to provide for teachers. If you would NOT like your student to participate you can opt out with these forms English Version/Spanish Version. We will copies in the front office as well.
Transfers - The Tyler ISD transfer window will open February 1st and close February 28th. The website provides all details regarding transfers and you can pick up a transfer application in the front office starting February 1st and they are due by MARCH 1st. Just a reminder that ALL transfers must re-apply every year unless you have moved to the official Hubbard school zone. Response letters regarding your transfer application will be mailed out April 1st. Transfer applications should be turned in at the front office.
Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest - A special shoutout to Mr. Greer, Hubbard Spanish teacher, and his students that participated in the Optimum Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest. Mr. Greer and our students were among the top five school in a 21 state area to submit essays.
Church Partners - The district had a special news piece created about Shiloh Road COC and all the support they provide Hubbard. Does your church have a local school they support? If not, we would love to partner with you!
Cheer tryouts - Coming up on February 13th at 5:30pm in the Hubbard Cafeteria we will have a parent informational meeting regarding cheer tryouts. At this meeting we will communicate all details regarding cheer commitments for the 25-26 school year. The tryouts will be the week of MARCH 10-14th. Mark your calendar!
Spinal Screenings - Nurse Olivares wanted me to share this letter explaining spinal screenings coming up in February. It is required for our 14 year male students and 12 year old female students. This will take place via the nurse during P.E./athletic periods.
-------------------------------------------------------------REPEATS--------------------------------------------------------------------
Leaving Early - If you are picking your child up early from school please do so by 3:15 p.m. We do not allow students to be checked out after 3:15 p.m. since this could hamper our dismissal procedures and ability to retrieve multiple students before the bell. The front office is closed between 3:15 and 3:45 p.m.

Fund Schools First
The Fund Schools First initiative has been organized by school districts—urban, suburban, and rural—to seek funding from the Texas Legislature to return districts to the same purchasing power as they had in 2019 when HB 3 was passed. With 90% of students attending public schools in Texas, our goal is for the Legislature to prioritize public school funding this upcoming session.

AVID Tutorials
Mrs. Veatch's students were focused and able to run their AVID study groups even though they had a sub.
Hubbard Teacher of the Year - David Havard
It was a close race this year, but David Havard in 8th grade Social Studies rose to the top as the Hubbard teacher of the year. We are excited to have such great teacher to nominate and vote upon. He is such a humble educator, strong questioner, and master of relationships.
MLK Art Contest
The PACK Art Students did a fantastic job on some pieces to celebrate MLK day. Some were even featured in the Tyler Library.
Bible Club - Eli Miller
A HUGE Husky shoutout to Eli Miller for helping bring the message at Bible Club today!
TGIF?!?
Guardians, if you hear your student talking about TGIF then that's a good thing! I have provided some context below. In addition to Hubbard always having a no cell phone policy, TGIF is a no TECHNOLOGY event in the media center. Classes that are doing well, showing growth, and behaving well are able to come to the media center and take part in some collaborative fun activities. They played chess, checkers, jenga, battleship, uno, guess who, LEGO's, and made valentine's day cards. It was great to see them having some "old school" fun!
Student/Teacher of the month - Bubba's 33
Bubba's 33 delivered some food certificates to treat our student/Teacher of the month.
8th grade - Studinka's class
Mrs. Studinka's classes were using their brain to make "brain caps" this past week while learning all about the different portions of the brain, their primary function, and how those areas aide in communication. She always does such a great job with our 8th graders!
Tin Can Cafe - Taco Soup

Girl Power
We are excited to partner with the Junior League of Tyler to offer this awesome event again this year! 6th grade girls may register by turning their signed permissions slip into their counselor. All 6th grade girls will be given a paper form and an explanation of the event. We had a fantastic turnout last year and hope to have even more this year!

Students and guardians, coming up soon, Nurse Olivares will be offering the official "STOP the Bleed" training for 7th/8th grade students during advisory class in the cafeteria. Students may sign up using this survey. The deadline to sign up is March 7th!
