COMMUNITY UPDATE
Hello North Rockland Families,
Today marks the 100th day of school - a time to reflect on learning and achievements. Across the district, students celebrated this milestone by dressing up in pajamas or their brightest, most vibrant colors.
In addition to the 100th-day festivities, we also had the privilege of participating in the 41st annual Rockland Read-In. This wonderful event brought together members of our Board of Education, administration and community to read with students across our schools. The Rockland Read-In promotes literacy and supports state learning standards through recreational reading, encouraging students to enjoy reading for pleasure. Our students dove into books, e-books, magazines and newspapers and we look forward to hearing which schools in Rockland County will have “the most minutes read.” Fingers crossed it’s North Rockland!
Earlier this week at the Town of Haverstraw Board Meeting, two NRCSD students and two teachers were recognized for outstanding contributions to our school community. NRHS students Daniella Ogunleye and Sandy Duplan received certificates of excellence for their perseverance and commitment to achievement, while Neary Education Center teacher Cree Sisco and Haverstraw Elementary teacher Hensie Rosarion were honored for their advocacy and dedication to the Haverstraw community in celebration of Black History Month. Congratulations to these inspiring individuals!
Another big shout-out goes to our Varsity Wrestling team for winning the Section One Championship for the first time since 2014! Kudos to our Varsity Boys Swim team for their impressive placing in Sections and to our Varsity Cheer team for taking first at the Arlington High School Mardi Gras Competition. Congratulations to our Varsity Girls Bowling team as well for winning the Section One Championship. Our athletes continue to set the bar high, break records and inspire excellence at NR - we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements!
With the weekend just around the corner, I want to remind everyone that there will be no school from February 17-21 for Mid-Winter Recess. I hope everyone enjoys this well-deserved break, takes some time to relax and comes back refreshed for the second half of the school year.

J'Nylah Pierre
J'Nylah is a sophomore on the girls JV basketball team at NRHS. Her growth throughout this season has been known to be nothing short of impeccable. This growth can be seen in her performance, attitude, and ability to be a leader on the court. Their team recently went 2-0 against Clarkston South and J'Nylah led the charge combining for 39 points in the 2 games. In their program, they emphasize that good leaders, "know the way, go the way, and show the way." She is certainly showing the way this season.
