BECS Family Update
Friday Flyer - September 27th
I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for making this first full month of school so amazing! It’s been incredible to see our students dive into the Burbank Community, forming new friendships and building connections with their teachers.
Our classrooms are buzzing with energy and excitement, and I couldn't be happier with the progress we’ve made together. We have so many fun and engaging learning opportunities lined up for the year ahead, and I can’t wait for our students to explore, grow, and thrive. Here’s to a fantastic journey together!

Health and Wellness
1. Illness and Health Protocols
With cold and flu season approaching, it’s essential to know when to keep your child home from school. We encourage you to review our building-specific health protocols, which provide guidance on how to manage illness in our community. This practice will help us reduce the spread of illness in our classrooms.
Additionally, our staff will be emphasizing proper hygiene, including regular handwashing, to keep our students healthy. We encourage you to reinforce these habits at home as well.
2. Outdoor Safety and Weather-Appropriate Attire
Outdoor play is a crucial part of our daily routine, even as the weather gets cooler. We believe that fresh air and physical activity are vital for our children’s well-being. Therefore, please ensure your child comes to school dressed in appropriate layers for outdoor play, including jackets and hats.
3. Mental Health and Emotional Wellness
As the school year progresses, it’s important to pay attention to your child's mental health and emotional well-being. We are incorporating activities in the classroom that promote social-emotional learning, helping children build resilience and manage their feelings. Encourage open conversations with your child about their emotions and experiences at school. If you have concerns or need resources, please reach out to our staff for support.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community healthy and safe!
Friendly Reminder
As a reminder, due to allergy restrictions and in alignment with Upper Arlington Schools’ policy, we kindly ask that no birthday treats be brought in for classroom celebrations.
Instead, we encourage families to consider donating a favorite book or game to the classroom in honor of your child's special day. Non-edible items like stickers or small toys are also permitted.
Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students!
Family Support - Food Resource
For a second year, the district is partnering with the Tri-Village Packers (TVP), a group of community volunteers who work to reduce food insecurity in Upper Arlington. Families with UA students can register throughout October and early November to receive grocery items that supplement their pantries during the upcoming Thanksgiving break. This is not a Thanksgiving meal but support to offset food insecurity by providing breakfast and lunch items during the extended break from school.
Last year, TVP provided food for more than 90 students during Thanksgiving break, and we believe there will be a greater need this year.
