EVANS ROAR!!!!
Every Student, Every Day!
August 1, 2024
Message from Mrs. Hernandez
I hope everyone enjoys their last few days of summer break! We have been hard at work and are excited to greet all our amazing Panthers back in the building.
Meet the Teacher Night will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on August 6, 2024. Students and parents can view their schedules in HAC starting at 8:00 AM on August 5, 2024. Please note that we will not have the capacity to print schedules at Meet the teacher night on 8/6, so we encourage you to print or screenshot them before coming.
As promised, this newsletter is full of information to help you and your student be ready for the first day of school.
Its a great day to be a Panther!
Our Evans' staff returned today for a day full of professional learning and team building. We are excited for the 24-25 school year and cannot wait to make an IMPACT on our Panthers!

Attendance and Tardies
Regular school attendance is essential for students to maximize their learning opportunities. Absences from class may result in serious disruption to the mastery of the knowledge and skills needed to progress to the next grade. Students and parents must make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.
It’s important to note that campuses may accept up to 4 days per semester (eight per year) excused with a parent note/email.
Tardies PER QUARTER
Will begin counting August 19th.
Consequences: first is a warning
Schedule Changes
Please review your schedule carefully.
If there is an issue with your schedule, please fill out the google form at https://tinyurl.com/evansschedules24
Schedule changes are not always granted and are only approved under specific circumstances.
Schedules will be changed in order of priority.
Last day to submit a schedule change is August 16, 2024
Cell Phone Policy
Students may use their cell phones only before school, after school, or during lunch.
Parents:
- If your student needs to contact you, they can ask their teacher for permission to go to their alpha house to make a call.
- If you need to reach your student, please call the school office. We are happy to deliver a message or bring your student to the office to speak with you.
Student ID Badges
McKinney ISD requires all middle and high school students to possess a school issued ID badge while on any District property or attending District events. ID badge checks will occur each morning as students enter the building and randomly throughout the school day. Any student who forgot to bring their ID badge will be required to purchase a replacement badge at the beginning of the school day. Students must present their school issued badge for after school activities including but not limited to athletic or fine arts events and activities.
Badges will be issued in the first week of September, and this policy will be enforced starting on September 9, 2024.

Parent/Teacher Communication
TEAMWORK: communication between home and school is crucial to the success of your child in middle school. It takes a village!
Please keep in mind:
Staff has 24 business hours to return emails and/or phone calls
A “business day” ends at 5:00, so please do not expect after hours communication unless it is for extra curricular activities.
Forgot an item? No worries! Drop items off on bookshelf in front office. Make sure your child’s name is visible on item. We will not call down to classrooms so let your child know an item is ready for pick-up!
Any food delivery from a third party such as Uber Eats and Doordash will not be excepted. All lunches must be delivered by parent or guardian for their student only.
