Hello PUE Families,

I hope everyone has enjoyed the start of the autumn weather (finally)!

Planning to go to the NC State Fair this year? Through the NC State Fair Tools for Schools Program, PUE can receive a portion of your NC State Fair admission ticket. For every ticket purchased using this link, and PUE code 531, the Fair will donate money to PUE!

Our PTA's big fundraiser of the year is in full swing. We kickoffed the Fun Run fundraiser for tracks 1-2-3 yesterday! Our goal is to raise $40,000 to enhance our school’s resources.

This year we are raising funds for teacher supplements, student online subscriptions, curriculum support, wellness efforts, the arts and global program. And, if we hit our $40,000 goal, the school will get to cover me in slime!

AND it is time for a WEEKEND CHALLENGE! Get a $60 flat donation or $2 per lap donation before Monday and you’ll score a GOLDEN EDITION Dude Perfect keychain!

Early College High School Interest

New Kidz Art Session

KidzArt after school art class Session 2 begins on Oct 24 (Track 3 students start on Nov 14). Classes meet on Thursdays at 4-5 pm in the Art Room for K-5th grades students. Every week is a new project and returning students are welcome! Your child will bring home a finished artwork that he/she will be proud of each week! Additional Carpool Tag

If your family needs a third carpool tag, it can be purchased here. The memberhub website will allow you to select any quantity, but there is only one tag available for each family. Anyone without a carpool tag will be asked to park and pick up their child from the front office. Families that carpool - the adult will need the carpool tag of each student - not just the number. Contact Ms. McNeill with any questions or concerns.

PUE Backpack Buddies Program (Food Assistance)

Pleasant Union has a food assistant program called Backpack BUddies. Students in this program will receive a bag of non-perishable food every Friday while they are tracked in. If you would like your child to receive food, please complete this form: PUE Backpack Buddies Program

Front Office Reminder

Please remember that per WCPSS policy, any visitor to a school must sign-in at the front office with a photo ID. Please make sure to have a government-issued ID when planning on visiting the school.

Volunteer Registration Open

Volunteer registration is open for the 2024-2025 school year. All volunteers must apply through the new volunteer management system for 2023-24, regardless of any previous volunteer status. Registration can be done on or off school campuses through any mobile device or computer. Individuals will be notified by the MyVolunteer system if they are approved to volunteer.

School Meal Accounts

Parents can place money directly onto their child's school meal account through http://www.myschoolbucks.com/. Parents can also place limits on student spending and extra items that students can purchase.

Buses

Bus information can be found here. If you have not already downloaded it, get the Here Comes the Bus App for live GPS tracking. Also, if you plan on using the bus, please join our Remind group for PUE Buses. You will need the code- @7ak6kgh to join. We will use that to communicate when routes are cancelled. Please note that PUE has no control of bus routes or the HCTB app. Please communicate your concerns over bus delays, route cancellations, or GPS tracking directly to the transportation department at 919-805-3030.

GoPlaySave-Support Chorus and Music Department

EXTENDED to 11/3. We are SO HAPPY Ms. D is back! Chorus is starting a bit later than usual this year so we are extending the sales for GoPlaySave coupon books. Funds will be raised for PUE chorus and the music department. Click here to see the list of vendors and to purchase.

Triangle Rock Club Spirit Event

Join us October 27 for an exciting spirit event at Triangle Rock Club. Cost is $15 per person (including adults), and 45% of proceeds go back to PUE! Space is limited, so sign up here. This is a family-friendly event (ages 4+). Teachers climb for free!

Parent’s Night Out at Pro 3:5

PUE Unsung Heroes

We want to recognize several fantastic staff members for their contributions to our school community. We celebrate these staffers who tirelessly support students and staff every day. Please join us in recognizing these folks with a card, kind word, or gift of gratitude.

Belated Happy Instructional Assistant Appreciation Day (September 13) to our awesome IAs! Our IAs wear many hats- support their classes, cover lunch duty, manage carpool duty, fill-in as substitute teacher, and jump in wherever needed! They are indispensable and so very appreciated. If your student has an IA, please send a special token of appreciation.

We missed recognizing Mr. Michael Gordon during Substitute Teacher Appreciation week in September. Mr Gordon is the PUE school substitute and he is our MVP! He is always there to listen, to lend a helping hand, and give any and all support. Thank you, Mr. Gordon, for all you do!

Mr. Henry Ward, our faithful custodian and fixer-of-all-things, will be celebrating his birthday on October 16. He has served at PUE for over 20 years. Thank you for all of your hard work, Mr. Henry!

October 14-18 is Cafeteria Staff Appreciation week! Thank you, Mrs Juanita Wilkerson, Mrs. Conchita Estes, and Mrs. Lindell Wilkerson (who has served at Pleasant Union for generations!) for keeping our students nourished! Show them some special care next week with a token of appreciation.
