Caps for California Donation Drive: Wow! Deer Hill not only shared their spirit on Monday but families stood up in support of schools affected by California wildfires. To date we've collected $1190 to be divided between the Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation Emergency Relief Fund and the Pasadena Educational Foundation Eaton Fire Response Fund. If you'd still like to donate, we'll be collecting through Friday, February 14th.
CPS 2025-2026 Calendar: This week the School Committee approved the calendar for the 2025 school year. Moving forward it will be linked below with this year's calendar.
Claim Lost & Found Items: Our lost and found is bursting with coats, sweatshirts, and other items that would love to be reunited with their owners. Please encourage your children to take a peek at the rack on the cafeteria stage. You are also welcome to come and retrieve any missing items during the school day. Please note that the PSO will be donating all remaining items the week before February break.
Follow CPS on Facebook: Cohasset Public Schools has a new Facebook page. Thanks for following us and stay tuned for more content as we get up and running.
Deer Hill Happenings
Deer Hill's Buddy Bench: Earlier this year, Mrs. Clark submitted a CEF grant on behalf of her 3rd grade class for a "Buddy Bench", a place to connect when you need a friend. It has arrived and is spending a little time on display in our front hallway before it moves to its permanent home on the playground. Here is a slide deck that several of Mrs. Clark's students created to tell you more. Thank you to the CEF and Mrs. Clark for this wonderful addition to Deer Hill!
Happy School Counselor Week! Deer Hill has a talented team of adjustment counselors who support all students (and staff, too!) Thank you, Mrs. Costa and Ms. Dullea!

CPS Purposeful Play & Risk Challenge
Each month Superintendent Shannon includes a suggestion for purposeful play and developmentally appropriate risk. As we await our challenge for February, it's not too late to give January's challenge a try!
Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, I am inviting you to join in on our January activities. This month, our challenges are:
Purposeful Play Challenge
So, this challenge is weather dependent ⛄. The challenge this month is to get outside and make a snowperson, build a snow fort, have a snowball fight! Remember the joy and excitement of a fresh snowfall with your children. And, if it doesn't snow, bundle up and take a winter walk in one of our many protected areas in Cohasset. There's nothing better than a brisk walk as a family through Wampatuck, Whitney and Thayer Woods, The Whitney Spur Trail, Great Brewster Woods, or up Turkey Hill! Here are two websites to help you locate each of these sites: NSRWA.org and The Cohasset Conservation Trust.
Responsible Risk Taking Challenge
We're kicking off our new year with a challenge to talk to someone new, to make a new friend, or for those of us who may have lost touch with some folks, pick one to reach back out to and say hello. This challenge helps teach our children how to make new friends, why kindness matters, and how to step outside our comfort zones and put ourselves out there.
