Fox Ridge Vision
At Fox Ridge, each student will achieve grade level standards in literacy, math and social emotional and behavioral skills.
Principally Speaking
This week, we honored our local veterans during our all-school assembly. We were proud to welcome five veterans from the Fox Ridge community: Shane Cheeseman, Brian Olson, Austin Raske, Peter Leonard, and Kyle Smith. Following the assembly, Mr. Olson and Mr. Leonard gave a special presentation to some of our third-grade students.
We also highlighted our choir and full orchestra through video recordings, and our fifth-grade orchestra students gave a live performance. Additionally, our student council led the Pledge of Allegiance, and our student council president, Jude Boyle, read a self-selected poem to honor our veterans.
This week, our third and fifth graders completed the CogAT test. This assessment helps guide decisions for Academically Talented Tier (AT) math and literacy placements. With one more week before winter break, we are preparing for our winter diagnostic iReady assessment when we return. This new data will inform instructional decisions and provide insight into student growth over the first part of the year.
To keep the momentum going, students should aim to complete 45 minutes of reading and math practice on iReady at home. Please encourage them to maintain this habit, even over the Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.
PE News
As we wrap up this week in PE, we are very proud to announce that we had 135 students help participate in the World Sport Stacking Associations 2024 Stack Up event. Students needed to stack for 30 minutes, which they were able to accomplish during PE. The goal for WSSA was setting a new world record of 750,000 people stacking across the world between Nov 12th -14th, we are still waiting on the results. Even Kindergarteners got involved and had fun creating their own stacks.

Donations Needed for Paws
As part of our school wide behavior incentives, individual students earn Golden Paws from teachers for meeting our behavior expectations of being respectful, responsible and safe. The Paws are entered into a raffle drawing that takes place on Fridays during lunch time. Students are recognized by their peers and are able to select a small prize. If you have items you would like to donate (stickers, croc charms, pokemon cards, etc), please send them in to Mrs. Patty Griffith, our Student Support Interventionist.
--District 303 Partners With GPS Parent Series
District 303 is proud to partner with the Glenbard Parent Series (GPS) to offer our families broader access to information sessions and resources that support their child’s development.
For decades, GPS has been offering free programs that aim to empower and strengthen families, individuals and communities. As a partner organization, District 303 will support promoting upcoming programs and their importance to our local community.
Health Office News
CHANGE OF CLOTHES:
Please remember to send a weather appropriate change of clothes to school with your student.
Also, we need donations of gently used girls and boys clothes sizes 5/6 and 7/8 to keep in the health office. Pants, shirts and underwear are desperately needed.
ILLNESS:
If your student is diagnosed with an illness or infection, please notify the health office. We are tracking our students' health closely to watch for any trends in the classrooms. This includes, but not limited to, respiratory illnesses, COVID, Flu, Pink Eye, and Strep. We appreciate any information you give us regarding your student in the event they are ill.
Please remind your student to cover their coughs and sneezes and wash their hands often.
The CDC recommends that people with strep throat stay home from work, school, or daycare until they meet the following criteria:
- They are no longer feverish
- They have been taking antibiotics for at least 12–24 hours
People with strep throat should also:
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve
- Wash hands frequently
- Wash cups, utensils, and other items that have been touched by an infected person
