Happy Valentine's Day
Our John Marshall students are working to build a Caring Community everyday with their Positive Actions! Ask them what they discussed this week during their Positive Action lessons.
We hope you enjoy some time with the ones you love!
NJSLA Parent University
John Marshall will be hosting a Parent University that will give you an opportunity to understand how to support your child as we prepare for the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment. An overview of the testing schedule and content areas covered will be provided at this session. We will discover how the NJSLA Units are structured and explore the types of questions the students will see on the test. During this Parent University, we will provide you with resources that can be accessed at home to support your child and allow them to feel more comfortable with the NJSLA.
This Parent University will be held in person in the Media Center and also available remotely via Google Meet. If you are attending in person, young children may not attend.
Date: February 20, 2025
Time: 9:30 a.m.

School Starting Time
This is a reminder that school starts at 8:55am.
If students arrive to homeroom later than 8:55 am, they will be marked tardy. The Drop Off Zone doors will close at this time, and parents/guardians will need to drive to the front of the building, park their car and walk their child to the front doors to sign them in.
Parents/Guardians can be taken to court over attendance. Please only keep your child/children home if they are sick and submit doctor's notes when your child/children are ill so we can mark the attendance excused. Parents/Guardians must have a meeting with school administration if they are absent frequently without any doctor’s notes.
If you have any questions regarding attendance please call the office at 732-650-5370.

This month's Student Council Activities can be found on the calendar.

Student Illness
Parents/ Guardians many learners are coming in and reporting directly to the nurse. As a reminder, please keep your child home for the following:
Fever - your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol or Motrin/Advil before returning to school
Vomiting/Diarrhea - please make sure your child has been free from vomiting for at least 24 hours and able to tolerate food before returning to school. If your child is having multiple episodes of loose stool, it is best to stay home.
Pink Eye - if your child wakes up with crust or discharge from the eye and the whites of the eye are pink/inflamed please visit your doctor. Pink eye must be treated with antibiotic eye drops for 24 hours before returning to school.
Pink eye must be treated by a doctor and a doctor’s note must be provided before returning to school.
Strep throat - if your child has sore throat, stomach discomfort, and/or fever they could have strep throat which is a bacterial infection that is contagious, and needs treatment with antibiotics. Please see your doctor, and keep your child home until they are treated with antibiotics for 24 hours.
We are hoping that adhering to these guidelines will keep everyone healthy in our school.
February is Black History Month
Black History Month is a celebration of Black American history and achievement that takes place each February in the United States. One of our activities honoring Black History Month is a laser light show featuring Black Americans who shaped history.
John Marshall Times
Please read our 2nd Edition of the John Marshall Times.
The students in the Newspaper Club enjoyed working on their finished product.
Grade Level Newsletters
Enjoy reading about all the "Magical" things happening at John Marshall School.
Please remind your child not to throw snow at the bus/van stops
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to be at the bus stop before and after school. Please remind your child/children that they should not be picking up snow and throwing it at anyone as they enter or exit the bus. Sometimes the snow could have ice in it and can injure someone. We do not want any of our students getting injured.
Online Resources available at Home
Our students have now settled into their routines at school and are familiar with the online programs they will be using this school year. Students can access these programs at home as well by logging into their Edison Classlink Account: https://launchpad.classlink.com/edison.
The Username is their Student ID number and the Password is their district issued password they use daily.
The new math program, enVisions by Savvas, has games and resources students can use at home and is available for students in all grades.
Students in Grades 2-5 can use their Reflex Math accounts to practice learning their basic math facts and start to build fraction understanding with Frax when ready.
Students in Grades 1-5 can work on their individualized assignments on their MyPath in i-Ready.
Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade are also encouraged to visit their Reading Eggs accounts.
