Our Santa Rita TK students brought "The Mitten" to life by retelling this classic winter tale! With big imaginations and storytelling skills, they made the story as cozy as the mitten itself! ❄️🐾

Parking Lot Reminders
The recent storms have created hazardous conditions, and student safety is our absolute priority. The following safety rules are not suggestions - we are asking for compliance to ensure that our students are safe.
· Absolutely NO drop-off or pick-up is permitted in the center parking lane. This creates a dangerous situation for students and staff.
· Students MUST exit vehicles on the passenger side ONLY. No exceptions.
· For both drop-off and pick-up, drivers should pull their vehicles completely forward in the designated lanes.
· Remain in your vehicle and move forward only as the cars ahead of you progress. Do not stop or unload until you are in the designated loading/unloading zone.
· Drivers MUST remain in their vehicles at all times during drop-off and pick-up. Do not exit your vehicle for any reason.
· If your student is in the younger grades or simply needs some extra time to exit the vehicle, please park and walk your child in.
The safety of our students depends on everyone's adherence to these rules. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a safe environment for all, and ensure traffic runs smoothly.
Character Strong February Focus: Honesty
Our character trait/SEL focus this month is on Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress. One of the family pursuits this month is checking in with each other about Honesty. You can discuss the importance of being Honest and work together to create a family Honesty pledge. Create and decorate a sign together that explains what Honesty means in your family. Have each family member sign the pledge and choose a spot to display it. Refer back to the pledge as a reminder to be Honest and to celebrate when Honesty is practiced!
Black History Month
February is Black History Month, a time for remembrance and celebration of the accomplishments of Black pioneers and trailblazers. Below are several resources for your family to explore:
· National Geographic Kids: Black History Month
· PBS Kids-For Parents: Celebrating Black Leaders (activities, videos, articles and book recommendations. Great for kids 2-8 years old)

It’s over halfway through the school year, and there’s much to be thankful for. Together, your student’s classroom teacher and LAEF-funded teachers are working hard to provide an excellent, well-rounded education. LAEF still needs to raise $185K to fully fund our grant to LASD this school year. Help us finish the job! If you have yet to give this year, donate to LAEF today.
