This past weekend we had many families come and tour the campus. We are so glad we were able to finish out our spring semester with our families taking a sneak peek of what's to come this fall! In this week's newsletter, we are sharing new information about our school uniforms, school supply list, and meet the teacher night. We are also thrilled to share more bios of our fabulous staff members.

The wait is over!!!! Our official information about uniforms is hot off the press. We are partnering with Affordable Uniforms to make your uniform selection easy.

Tops: White or Sky Blue

Bottoms/Shorts/Skirts/Jumpers: Gray or Navy Blue

Logo on the uniform is not mandatory. You may buy uniforms with or without the logo. Also if you choose to buy uniforms at a different retail store, you may take them to Affordable Uniforms and add the logo for $6.

Parents, this is your chance to get involved in your child's school. Please fill out the Parent Involvement Interest Form and let us know if you are interested in building our school community and engaging with other families.

Other opportunities such as Room Parents, Gardening Volunteers, and PTA members will become available at Meet the Teacher Night.

Are you interested in Soccer or Flag Football for your child next fall? Prestonwood Montessori will be partnering with the Town North YMCA leagues for these sports. We need parents who are interested in coaching each team in order to make this happen! Registration officially starts July 5th so please fill out this form to indicate interest in your child playing one of these sports or YOUR interest in coaching/sponsoring a team.

Soccer starts at 3 years old and goes up to 2nd grade. Flag Football starts at kindergarten and goes up to 2nd grade. Both sports seasons start September 4th in the fall. Soccer games are played on Saturdays and Flag Football games are played on Sundays (after noon)

Please Note: Parents will have the opportunity to select from new or existing stops through June 18, 2021. Parents will need to select 1st and 2nd choice bus stops. The 1st choice school list includes existing bus stops and new stops. The 2nd choice school list only includes existing bus stops. You can continue to submit stop selections after June 18, but there may be fewer stop options. You will get confirmation of your route and stops approximately 2 weeks prior to the first day of school.

Ms. Low is a proud product of Dallas ISD herself! After attending Townview, she moved to California for college. It was during a study abroad program in Cape Town, South Africa that she finalized her decision to become a teacher. She moved back to Dallas with her husband and was given the privilege to teach at Foster, her own former elementary school. Ms. Low's 9 years as an educator, along with her personal experiences as a student, have made her a strong advocate for bilingual education and racial equity. She is incredibly excited to offer ALL of our students at Prestonwood Montessori the opportunity to learn Spanish.

Las Vegas native, Zoë Jorgenson, had an eagerness to pursue music from a young age. Being studious about her instrument, the bass, and its capabilities throughout her formative years, she ultimately decided to focus her collegiate studies on the bass with one of the premier clinicians and pedagogues in the world, Eric Hansen. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Zoë immersed herself in the local music scene, delving deep into jazz, classical, indie and folk music from many different countries. She relocated to the Washington D.C. metro area in pursuit of a master’s degree in jazz studies under the tutelage of Army Blues bassist, Regan Brough. Zoë has toured and performed music all over the world including festivals in Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, the Philippines, and Italy. She has led orchestras and choirs in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, and Peru. Zoë completed her first year teaching in Dallas this year and is so excited to bring her knowledge of music and different cultures to new students!

Andreina Raga, is 35 years old, with a daughter named Lia and married to Grant, who is a Montessori teacher too! Ms. Raga is from Venezuela, moved to Texas in 2016 and has been a Bilingual Pre- K teacher since then. Ms. Raga is a psychologist and used to work with children under the autism spectrum. She is very excited to be a part of the Prestonwood Montessori founding team, and can't wait to welcome your kids to our wonderful school.

AnaVictoria's fascination with teaching the whole child for optimal learning has been her life's vocation. Her undergraduate work form Naropa University in Boulder, CO had a concentration in contemplative practice and her graduate work at Maharishi University in Fairfield, IA revolved around the application of meditation. AnaVictoria is the process of receiving her 2nd Masters degree and Montessori teacher certification. She and her husband have 2 daughters, one is 20 and lives in Austin, TX, the other one is 16 and has been in DISD schools since the family moved here in 2015. AnaVictoria is honored to be a Montessori teacher for Dallas ISD Prestonwood Montessori at E.D. Walker. She is looking forward to the goodness that will blossom from our working together.

Jazmine Bryant is a Primary Montessori teacher at Prestonwood. She has lived in Dallas, Texas her whole life and graduated from Louisiana State University in 2020. Ms. Jazmine has a passion for teaching children and helping them grow.

Ms. Lena Hilbert comes to Prestonwood Montessori at E.D. Walker with a passion for the Montessori method and over 7 years of teaching experience. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education and Applied Psychology from Boston College and her M. Ed. from SMU with specialization in Early Literacy. Ms. Hilbert holds her Montessori credentials from American Montessori Society (AMS) which is the leading advocate and resource for quality Montessori education and previously taught at the June Shelton School in Dallas. Her formative teaching experience at Shelton has shaped her into a dedicated, creative, and nurturing educator that hopes to inspire her students to be lifelong learners. Additionally, her time at Shelton has given her practical training working with diverse learners and students with academic learning disabilities and attention disorders. Ms. Hilbert is a firm believer in Montessori as it allows for true differentiation in the classroom, provides students a multisensory approach to learning, and introduces concepts in a concrete manner and moves to abstraction. She feels honored to be part of the founding team at this innovative Montessori DISD choice school.

Adam George is a North Texas native. He received his Bachelors of Fine Arts from Saint Edward’s University in Austin with a focus in photography and digital arts. Adam began his career in digital marketing, video production, and photography but could not ignore the calling to become a teacher! He is proud to be the Visual Arts and Gifted and Talented teacher at Prestonwood Montessori. His aim is to create an inclusive classroom that has the right balance of structure and freedom so that every student has the opportunity to thrive creatively.

Prestonwood Montessori will offer before and after-school care to our families. Champions will provide our on-site aftercare for Pk3-2nd grade students. Please contact Jimonique Schueler (470-733-2028), our Champions liaison, for more information about the program and how to apply for a weekly discounted rate. Enrollment begins in June.
