ECHS Weekly update
January 10, 2025
Message from your school counselor - Lakisha Bostick
Happy Friday! On Monday, NCCU classes will begin. Please look in your MyEOL account for details on your college class, such as location and teacher. Also, be on the lookout for information regarding school on Monday in case of inclement weather.
Registration for the next driver's ed class will take place tomorrow morning, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 9am. Please use the link in this newsletter to sign up for either the morning or afternoon session. Sessions can fill up fast, so the sooner you sign up, the better your chance of getting in the class.
The first of 5 drawings took place this week for seniors who completed their FASA application. Our first winner, Samantha Gonzalez Brindis won a free senior trip. If you did not win this month, we will do another drawing next month. Seniors, please complete your FASA as soon as possible if you have not already done so. If you need help, there is a flyer in this newsletter with dates that the Emily K Center will be available to help and you can always reach out to Ms. Jang for assistance as well. Please continue to forward or screenshot all acceptances and scholarship awards to me through email or remind. Here are the acceptances that I have so far. Congratulations to all of you and I am looking forward to many more submissions. Senior quote submissions are due January 17th.
Report cards can now be viewed in PowerSchool. The paper copies have been delayed due to school closing today. When we report back to school students in grade 9-11 will be able to get a printed report card.
Seniors, please note that the weather will also delay you getting your unofficial transcript. Whenever we return to school (there is a chance it may not be Monday) your transcript will be available after 12pm in my office on that day. Because there was no school today, they will have to be printed the morning we return. In the meantime, you will be able to view grades in PowerSchool. I advise that each of you scan your transcript in the notes section of your iPhone or scan it at the library so that you have an electronic version of this transcript. If you need another transcript, you will have to request it online.
Senior t-shirts must be preordered. If you would like a senior t-shirt but do not want to attend the senior trip, the cost of the shirt is $15. I will start taking orders for senior t-shirts once we have a design. If you would like to submit a design idea, please your design to my email or remind by Monday, February 3rd. So far, I not received any design ideas.
There are 24 seniors who have not ordered a cap and gown. If you have not ordered your cap and gown, please do so as soon as possible. Please let me know if you are experiencing a problem ordering.
I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

Please consider getting involved with community organization Rhizome
Rhizome is a community-based fellowship that puts students into leadership roles. Our purpose is to improve our communities, spread big ideas, and increase our civic participation. Rhizome is led by community organizers, responsible for leading fellowship chapters, and adult mentors who provide support to the community organizers. Fellows reflect on who we want to be, develop real-world leadership skills, gain professional experience, practice inclusive teamwork, and engage in civic life for 3 hours per week.
