Swift - Slaybaugh Complex

Principal's Message
Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Complex Families,
Thank you so much for your patience and cooperation while we navigated through the first three days of school. It was so nice to see all our students back in the school full-time with excitement for the new school year. We appreciate you bearing with us while we iron out our first week “growing pains.” We are working toward a permanent solution, but in the meantime, we have come up with a plan to expedite both our arrival and dismissal procedures. We are planning on having students dismiss to one bus location, which should allow for faster departure and in turn, an earlier arrival at home.
Reminders about Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures:
Kindergarten through Third Grade- Drop-Off
For parent drop-off in the morning, we ask that you start lining up in your cars in your building’s respective car loop as early as 9:00. If you are the first car to arrive in the loop, please pull all the way forward to make as much room as possible for the rest of the cars. Please do not leave large gaps between your car and the one in front of you. Members of our staff will be outside to meet your students at your cars, unload them, and guide them into the building. In order to help us keep this process as quick as possible, please have your students sit on the passenger side of your car. Please also have them prepared with their backpacks and masks ready to go. We ask that you please do not exit your cars at any point.
Kindergarten through Third Grade- Pick-Up
For parent pick-up in the afternoon, you are welcome to come and start the process as early as 3:00. Important: We kindly ask that you send communication regarding pick-up to your child’s homeroom teacher in writing, so we know not to put them on the bus. If you will be picking your student up every day, please indicate this detail in your letter. Beginning Monday, for the Swift and Elementary buildings, we are going to start a “pre-vetted” list of parents. This means that after you submit your daily pick-up intentions in writing, we will check your ID one additional time and add you to our “pre-vetted” list. Going forward, any day you come to pick up your student, you will give your name and your student’s name to a staff member in the vestibule, and they will hand your student off to you. If you are looking at the building, we ask that you please use the door that is on the right side. We will be using the left side for our bus students to exit from the building.
Preschool Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Please remember that the Preschool start time is different than K-3, with students arriving at 9:30 rather than 9:15. You are welcome to line up in the car loop in front Primary as early as 9:20. We are going to continue our same procedures where parents park and walk their students to the cone that indicates their teacher’s name. If you are the first car to arrive in the loop, please pull all the way forward to make as much room as possible for the rest of the cars. Please do not leave large gaps between your car and the one in front of you. If there is no longer room in the loop, please park on the street. If you are facing the Primary building, this street is located to the left of the sidewalk. Again, please pull up as far as possible to allow room for other cars. In the afternoon, please come to the main office where the same vetting procedures will continue and then you will meet your student at the end of the B-Wing, the same area where you dropped them off in the morning.
Thank you again for your continued cooperation as we work to have things run smoother every day. As always, please do not hesitate to call the complex if you have any questions or concerns, as we are always happy to assist.
Sincerely,
Joe Marinelli
