Picture Re-Take Day
Join us for our Winter Concert - December 18th
Holidays
Many holidays are deeply rooted in imagination and fantasy – reindeer pulling sleighs, Santa’s bringing gifts down a chimney, rabbits laying eggs, etc. Children are still learning about the real world and the nature of the things found in it. Children believe all that you tell them. For these reasons, in keeping with Montessori philosophy, we do not celebrate holidays in the traditional manner. We observe the changing of the seasons.
Winter Outdoor Recess
During the winter months, we use the “20-degree rule,” which is that if the air temperature or wind chill is less than 20 degrees, the children should stay inside on that day in their classroom incorporating safe physical activities and movement when possible.
Families - please be sure that your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the outdoors (hats, coats, snow pants, scarf, gloves, etc.). All staff have been reminded to be sure that before they go outside for recess, that all students are dressed appropriately - this also includes dismissal.
Thank you for your cooperation.

REMINDER - SCHOOL HOURS
- Student Hours: 9:10am – 4:05pm
- Doors will open at 9:10am. Please do not drop your child(ren) off early and leave them unsupervised. We do not have enough staff to appropriately supervise and the weather is getting colder. Our school is located on a busy street, and we want everyone to be safe.
- Dismissal times:
- 3:35pm - PS, PK & K ONLY
- 3:45pm - 1st – 3rd grade
- 3:55pm - 4th – 8th and students with older siblings in 4th – 8th
If you will be picking your child up from school, please park on surrounding streets or pull up to the Cedar Street door.
- If your child arrives to school after 9:40am, you will need to sign them in late as we complete daily homeroom attendance by 9:40am.
- All pickups are done by 4:15pm
- ALL changes in dismissal require school notification. A parent signed note is best, and phone calls can be accepted before 2:00pm.
- Early Dismissal (Pick-up before 3:00pm) - This is strongly discouraged. Completing the full school day is important to your child’s success.
Has your contact information changed?
If you have a new phone number, email address, contact list, etc., please be sure to update this information with our clerical team. It is very important that we always have the most up-to-date information. Thank you for your cooperation.
