Quarter 3 Newsletter
2023-2024
Message from Principal Murphy
Dear LSHS Families,
Welcome to the last quarter of the school year! Please continue to encourage your student to finish strong in the classroom. Strong attendance is crucial and the correlation of success in the classroom with good attendance can not be ignored. We have a lot to look forward to at Lakeville South High School and the information in this Newsletter will help guide you as we close out the school year.
Thank you
Shaun Murphy
QUARTER 3 GRADES
Quarter 3 grades will be finalized on the Infinite Campus portal by April 15th. Reminder that Quarter 3 counts for 45% of the final Semester 2 grade.
PASS/FAIL REQUEST-DUE MONDAY, ARPIL 15th for SEMESTER 2
Students can select to take ONE class as a pass/fail per semester.
1. Students who are interested in taking a course on a pass/fail basis should discuss this option with their parents and complete the form on their Class of Schoology page.
2. Once students submit this form, they CANNOT change grading systems (back to and "A-F" grading system).
3. Students must continue to participate fully, take all tests, and submit all class work. Grades will continue to be calculated until posted on the transcript. The transcript will reflect a "P" or "F".
4. If a student earns 60% or higher, credit will be awarded for the course; however, the course will not be in the GPA computation which determines the student's class rank and will be marked on the transcript with a P. If a student fails the class (below 60%), the "F" grade will be in the GPA computation and no credit will be awarded towards graduation requirements. The F will remain on the transcript.
Attention student-athletes: NCAA assigns a 1.0 or the equivalent of a "D" for any course taken under the Credit/No Credit (pass/fail) grading option.
All PSEO (Post Secondary Enrollment) students who want to request credit/no credit (pass/fail) for a college course must apply through their college in order to receive this grading option. Colleges have various deadlines so please reach out to a PSEO advisor at the college if you are considering this option.

Lakeville Area Schools along with all Minnesota school districts give the MCAs every year to measure the achievement on the Minnesota Academic Standards as well as academic progress of students over time. These assessments meet the state and federal accountability requirements per Minnesota Statute 120B.30 and ESEA. Parents/guardians can review their child’s respective school website calendar for specific assessment dates.
Individual student results will be distributed to families in Fall 2024.
District-wide and school building results can be found on the Minnesota Department of Education website under the Minnesota Report Card.
The MCAs represent one data point within the District’s comprehensive assessment framework.

Please note that you may not exit the exam area before the entire timing is complete, unless you experience an emergency during testing. Plan accordingly with athletics, appointments and/or employers.

Any other questions, or if you have decided not to take the exam please contact Rick Cradit at richard.cradit@isd194.org.
ACT RESULTS FOR JUNIORS
Lakeville South has not yet received scores from the MN State administered ACT for juniors held here on March 12th. We have, however, heard that scores are starting to be generated. If you completed the follow-up assignment sent home with you after testing was completed (to create your My ACT ID account via instruction sheet and booklet for sending scores), then you should be able to access your score report HERE when your result has been recorded. Information is also available on that site regarding how to use the score report, send additional copies of scores to colleges, other FAQ and topics.
If you did not complete the necessary MyACT ID account set-up within the timeframe required after the exam here at South, then you should address any issues directly with ACT Customer Care Contact Form initially or call ACT Student Services at 319-337-1270.
If you didn’t get the score you were hoping for, be sure and check out the College Entrance Exam page of our website for resources and more detail of future test options. You will also need your ACT ID # that is noted on your score report to register for future ACT national exams or request results be sent to colleges.
