Happy Monday HES Family & Friends!

Thank you for another awesome week at HES! As we come to the midpoint of this Third Nine Week Grading Period, we will be hosting a Drive-thru Parent Engagement event this Wednesday, February 5th, to provide families with a copy of your child's 3rd Nine Week Progress Report, along with a literacy activity for you and your child to complete. A treat will be provided to students that return the completed activity on Thursday. We appreciate your continued support. Let's have an awesome week ahead!

Friendly Reminders:

• School starts at 8:00 a.m. Your child will be marked tardy if they arrive at 8:00 a.m. and any time afterwards.
  
• Please arrive before 8:00 a.m. to ensure that your child has time to eat breakfast before classes begin. The Car Rider door is closed at 8:00 a.m. daily. Students must be dropped off and signed in by a parent or guardian in the front after this time.
• Any individual entering the doors of Hillcrest Elementary, must be dressed appropriately. Please refrain from wearing pajamas and revealing clothing attire.
• Breakfast is served to all students daily from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. with a student choice of hot or cold.
• Our School Dismissal process begins at 2:55 p.m. each day.
  
• Students that are not picked up at the car rider area by 3:15 p.m. will be taken to the front office to be released. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.
• Make right turns ONLY when exiting the car rider drop-off/pick-up line.
• Please allow our staff to enter the parking lot in the mornings by keeping the car rider lane open at the entrance near the playground.
• Car Rider Parents: To help ensure the safety of loading and unloading our precious cargo (students), please place your car in the Park position while students are entering/exiting the vehicle.

Please be reminded of our dress code expectations. We do encourage you to review our dress code policy, but also providing a few reminders below. Also, as the weather changes and students begin wearing jackets/sweaters, please place your child's name inside of items.

• Sweat shirts and hoodies may be worn to school, but hoods cannot be worn inside of school/classroom.
• Leggings cannot be worn as "stand alone." They can be worn under a solid colored skirt/shorts.
• Jeans/Pants may not have any rips, holes, tears, or frays.
• Shoes must have a strap on the back of them. No Crocs allowed at school.

Please help us by making sure your child is appropriately dressed before coming to school each day.

It's important for students to attend school daily so that they can receive the needed instruction in order for them to be successful. It is also important for students to arrive to school on time. If your child is absent, please submit a written parent excuses and/or doctor's notes for your child upon their first day of return to school. This helps the school clear up any attendance issues and prevents us from forwarding names on to the next level due to an excessive amount of unexcused absences. Please help do your part by making sure your child is present at school and on time. Students should arrive no later than 8:00 a.m.

If your child is absent for any reason, please make sure you send a written excuse or doctor's excuse with them upon their return to school.

February 12: Love & Basketball {HES vs SDE}, 9:30 a.m.

February 13-17: Winter Break {No School}

February 18: Local School Governance Team Meeting, 5:00 p.m.

February 20: HES Black History Program

Hillcrest is a K-5 Elementary Themed Charter School that opened in August 2011. Our theme is L. E. A. P which is Leadership, Environmental Awareness, and Public Service.
