Blue River Valley Schools

Construction is officially underway at BRV, marking an exciting chapter in our district's growth. From updated facilities to new learning spaces, these improvements will enhance the experience for all students. Check out the progress in the pictures below!

Phase 1 of construction is the middle part of the building and the two classrooms (that were art and music) in the cafeteria. It is amazing how much I can forget what the area used to be once the walls have been removed! This phase is predicted to be complete in the middle of December.

The district office and maintenance areas are underway as well. This phase of construction is scheduled to be completed in February.

I am aware that finding a long-term solution to the band area is a high priority in our district. I have attended several meetings about the long-term facility plans at BRV which includes a dedicated space for the band. It is not perfect, but there will be a music and band room at the elementary when construction is complete with our current renovation projects. I am working on creating a 5-year facility plan to include improvements such as the fine arts area, parking lots, the middle area of the jr./sr. high school, the elementary cafeteria, etc. As those plans are developed in the next 6-9 months I will share them at regular board meetings and in future newsletters.

The serving line in the elementary cafeteria needed to be replaced as it was beyond repair. Over fall break the new serving line was installed. We were able to use leftover money from our tennis court project to purchase the updated equipment for our elementary students and cafeteria staff.

The tennis courts needed some maintenance over Fall Break. Over the years we will need to perform maintenance and upkeep on the playing surface. We should not need to resurface the tennis courts for 5-7 years. We have also been working with Henry County REMC to prepare for a small amount of electricity to be put in. Tennis season is over, but many nights I see people practicing on the tennis courts from our community. We hope you continue to enjoy this space well into the future!
