Orange Shirt Day
Our school participated in our own Orange Shirt Day this Friday to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as school is closed September 30.
Our Grade 9 Leadership class has created the following message to share with our school community.
"Truth and Reconciliation Day is a day to honour residential school survivors. We use this day as the day to celebrate First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures. We also use this day to share the horrors of what First Nations, Inuit, and Métis went through in residential schools, and to think of those who died in residential schools. We display and wear orange shirts to remember to not repeat the horrors that First Nations, Inuit, and Métis went through."
Pizza Fridays
Come down to the Hawk's Nest on Fridays to get your pizza!
It may be a good idea to still bring somewhat of a lunch as we are early in the year for determining how many pizzas we will require to feed the hungry mouths of F. R. Haythorne!
$3.00 per slice
Missed Assessment
We understand there may be extenuating circumstances that are out of your control and sometimes an exam may be missed; however, we are asking that all assignments be completed promptly once your child returns to school.
We are trying a new process this year by asking parents to sign up for a time online to complete missed assessments. You will receive an email from the teacher with information and directions should it be required. We have made times available both at lunch and after school to accommodate all schedules.
We thank you all in advance for working with your child to arrange these times and in allowing the class to receive timely feedback on their assessments.
School Fee Information
School fee information for the 2024-25 school year is now posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2024.
NOTE: Don’t forget to also log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of various school activities such as field trips, class projects, extracurricular activities fees and more.
