A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
This week is school counselor appreciation week and I want to take a moment to recognize the efforts and contributions of our two amazing counselors at RVES, Ms. Jessica Alladin and Ms. Nicole Felipe. They both do terrific work at Riverview. They are actively involved in proactive and preventative intervention with upwards of 200 students each week. They push into classrooms regularly to support teachers, lead small groups for learners with various social/emotional needs, conduct CARES lessons to proactively communicate school norms and expectations, communicate regularly with families, lead several of our student support teams, plan and execute our Student of the Month celebrations, and much more. And they do it all with amazing positivity, enthusiasm, and selflessness. They make an incredible difference at Riverview and I can not thank them enough for all they do for our students and staff.
Also, just a quick reminder that after a few days of unseasonably warm weather last week, colder temps are on their way. Please continue to send your child to school with winter gear that allows them to fully enjoy the 30 minutes of recess they get each day. Also, please take a moment to make sure everything is labelled with names or initials so we can get any misplaced items back to the rightful owner. Unfortunately, our lost and found gets pretty full at times.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Best wishes for a great week!
Shawn Peck
Principal

Annual Career Fair Provides Impactful Opportunity To Our 5th Graders
The elementary school counselors of Farmington Area Public Schools hosted a Career Fair last Friday at Farmington Elementary School. Fifth grade students attending Meadowview, North Trail, Akin Road, Riverview, and Farmington Elementary Schools participated in this event. Parents, guardians, relatives, and family friends of Farmington Area Public School fifth graders were invited to share their career experiences with our students and there were over 50 presenters! Fifth graders were given time to visit tables and ask questions about their jobs (likes, dislikes, training required, etc.). This was a great opportunity for students to learn about the various career opportunities available right in our own community!!
A special “THANK YOU” goes out to the parents, guardians, relatives, and family friends of our Riverview Elementary School students who took time out of their busy day to volunteer!! And also to RVES school counseors, Jessica Alladin & Nicole Felipe for their hard work to bring this opportunity to life for our learners.
Multiage Biome Showcase Highlights Tremendous Student Projects
Multiage learners have been working hard on an interdisciplinary unit focused around biomes that students used literacy, science, technology, and engineering skills to complete. They picked their top interests and then researched about a particular biome. They learned about flora, fauna, physical features, weather, climate, and positive and negative human impacts in their biome. As a cooperative group, they chose how they wanted to present their research and then build a 3-D model to represent their biome. Last Friday, they did an amazing job sharing what they learned and their projects to family, friends, and community members.
It Is School Counselor Appreciation Week!

Both of them put their heart and soul into their work and care deeply about the success of every learner at Riverview. We are so grateful for all they do to make Riverview such a special place for everyone!

Farmington Student Experience Survey To Take Place in February
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the students in our district. ISD 192 values input from our students as they are important partners as we work to improve our communication, academic programming and overall experience for everyone.
In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for feedback from students in grades 3-12 via an online survey they will be completing at school during the window of February 3-14, 2025. The survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential.
Your Privacy
All responses in the student survey will remain confidential to protect individual privacy. You may review a copy of the sample survey questions online by clicking on the link below:
If you do not wish for your child to participate in the Farmington Student Experience Survey being conducted, you may opt out by completing this "Decline Survey Participation” form and returning it to your child’s teacher or main office by January 31, 2025.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact your student’s building principal.

We Need Your Help! We Are In Need of More Paraprofessional Substitutes
Our paraprofessionals are a vital part of our team and they do so much every day for our students. Like everyone, they have to miss work from time to time due to illness, family matters, etc. When that happens, it leaves our learners with less support. And unfortunately, often times these absences go "unfilled" due to a shortage of capable and willing subs. That is why we are asking for people in our Riverview community to consider being a para sub. The pay is $15 per hour and you can work as much (or as little) as you want. Whether you sub one day or every day, each time you enter a classroom, you are responsible for the helping the most important resource we have in our school -- our children.
If you would like to sign up to sub as a teacher or paraprofessional for the Farmington Schools you will have to apply through Teachers on Call (TOC). Please email or call TOC directly at 1800-713-4439 or apply online at teachersoncall.com.
Keep On Reading Every Night at Home! It Makes a HUGE Difference!
