MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Greetings MVCSD Community,
This week, we highlighted the great progress that we have made throughout the District in the past 10 years. We have instituted exceptional programs, introduced and grown partnerships, and sent scholars to some of the top colleges and universities in the country during that time. Thank you to all the administrators, teachers, staff and Board of Education trustees for the work you have all done to make these academic strides.
Thank you, especially, to all the teachers throughout the District, as it is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers do wonderful things to serve our students, and I am so grateful for everything they do. I know your students appreciate you so much!
On June 2, the District is hosting Sheila Johnson to sign books for the community and hold what I am sure will be a riveting discussion about her novel, "Walk Through Fire." The ticket link can be found in this newsletter, and all proceeds will go to supporting Mount Vernon City School District extracurricular activities and out of school programs. Please attend and support our District while getting the opportunity to speak to an inspirational figure!
The vote for the 2024-25 school year budget will be held on Tuesday, May 21, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. This year’s budget has no change to the tax levy and continues our investments in our academic programs throughout the District. Please find more information about the budget in our budget newsletter and on our budget page online.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. K. Veronica Smith
Acting Superintendent of Schools
