Attendance Guidelines
Our District Policy 503 on Student attendance reads: Regular school attendance is directly related to success in academic work, benefits students socially, provides opportunities for important communications between teachers and students, and establishes regular habits of dependability important to the future of the student.
In alignment with this policy, the following are some guidelines regarding attendance:
If your child cannot attend school for any reason, please call our attendance line within 24 hours at 952-707-2904 to excuse them.
When leaving a message please include:
Your name
Your child’s name (including the spelling of first & last name)
Grade
Callback phone number
Brief Description. If your child is sick, please leave any symptoms they have.
- If a student is absent and no telephone call has been received from the parent/guardian, the school will contact the parent/guardian. It is important to provide the school with current home, cellphone, and work telephone numbers via ParentVUE.
- All absences not excused within 24 hours will be considered unexcused.
- Occasionally, students arrive late to school. Parents should call in to the attendance line to excuse the tardy.
Educational Benefits
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Every year, you need to reapply to qualify to receive educational benefits. To apply, complete this Alternate Application for Educational Benefits. By filling out this application, you can receive reduced or waived athletic and activities fees, reduced transportation fees, discounts on internet service, emergency food benefits, and more. Plus, some of the funding our schools receive is determined by the number of families that qualify for benefits. By completing the form, you are helping ensure District 191 schools receive everything we need to support students, including additional funding for teachers, interventionists and other student supports. .
Even if you think you may not be eligible, completing an application can make a huge difference for our school and that’s why our goal is 100% of families completing an application.
Any information you submit will remain confidential.
As a reminder, the State of Minnesota’s Free School Meals program begins this school year. Starting September 5, 2023, every K-12 student may receive one breakfast and one lunch at no cost during the school year. Minnesota’s Free School Meals program and federal funding will cover the cost of breakfast and lunch for in-person students in kindergarten through grade 12. Free lunch meals will also be available for pre-kindergarten students who attend elementary schools.
One91 Virtual Academy students are not eligible, for the free meals only.
COMMON QUESTIONS:
How is this Information used?
It will be used to determine if your household is eligible for free or reduced-price economic status for educational funds and discounts. We may share your eligibility information with education, health, and nutrition programs to help them evaluate, fund, or determine benefits for their programs. .
Who should I include as household members?
Include yourself and all other people living in the household, related or not (such as grandparents, other relatives, or friends).
May I apply if someone in my household is not a U.S. citizen?
Yes. You or your children do not have to be U.S. citizens for your children to qualify. .
What if my income is not always the same?
List the amount that you normally get. If you normally get overtime, include it, but not if you get overtime only sometimes. For seasonal work, write in the total annual income.
Will the income information or case number I give be checked?
It may be. We may also ask you to send written proof during a process we call Verification. .
If I don’t qualify now, may I apply later?
Yes. Please complete an application at any time if your income goes down, your household size goes up, or you start receiving SNAP, MFIP or FDPIR benefits.
If you have other questions or need help, call 952-707-2051 or email aterwilliger@isd191.org.
Sincerely, Food and Nutrition Services.
