Reutter School Weekly Update
Week of September 9, 2024
Principal's Message
Reutter School Families,
It was so wonderful to have all of our students return back to Reutter School this past Thursday. Over the course of our first week of school, students were provided an orientation to the school's procedures and expectations by their homeroom teachers, participated in homeroom and individual pictures, and attended a grade level presentation on school expectations, our character development program, and a review of our school security procedures. It is always amazing how students become acclimated to the layout and norms of the school by the end of the first week. We are all hoping for a safe, healthy, and academically rewarding school year.
Next week, we conducted baseline academic assessments for all our students in Math and ELA. This information will be used by our teachers to inform and guide their instructional programming.
Please look for our weekly email correspondence as the primary method of communication between the school and families. We will also communicate information about our school on a regular basis Class Dojo, the district website at www.franklintwpschools.org, and on social media accounts through the school's profile.
Educationally Yours,
Mr. Theodore Peters
Principal
Caroline L. Reutter School
Counselor's Corner
Dear Parents and Guardians:
I hope that you are feeling refreshed and excited for the start of a brand new school year! As the school counselor, I am honored to be a part of your child's educational journey here at Caroline L. Reutter School. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share some information about the valuable support and resources available to you and your children throughout the upcoming year.
First and foremost, I am here to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. My role is to provide every student, parent and community member with the necessary support to meet their social and/ or emotional needs. Whether your child is navigating new friendships, facing academic challenges, or simply in need of someone to talk to, my door is always open.
My Role as a School Counselor:
As the school counselor, my role encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at fostering the well-being and success of our fifth and sixth graders:
Individual and Group Counseling: I provide a confidential and safe space for students to discuss their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Additionally, small group sessions are routinely developed on various topics related to our unique age group of students. I focus on working to create a comfortable, encouraging environment for students to succeed in all capacities.
Parent Collaboration: I am here to support you as well. Feel free to reach out to discuss any concerns you may have or to seek advice on how to best support your child's development in the educational setting.
Crisis Intervention: In times of crisis, I am here to provide immediate support and connect families with appropriate resources when needed.
Collaboration with Staff: I work closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Promotion of Character Development: As a National School of Character, our faculty and staff promote opportunities for all students to understand and demonstrate appropriate character in all aspects of their lives. Especially, we focus on the development of student character across nine main traits: respect, accountability, motivation, self- esteem, trust, responsibility, optimism, perseverance, and gratitude.
Ways to Stay Connected:
Communication is key to a successful partnership between home and school. Throughout the year, I will be sending out informational messages and providing resources on various topics related to your child's growth and development. Please make sure to check the schoolwide weekly communication message and the school’s Class Dojo Site.
Your Involvement Matters:
Your involvement and support are invaluable to your child's success. We encourage you to engage in open conversations with your child about their school experiences, attend school events, and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
I look forward to assisting each of our students reach their full potential as we embark on this exciting journey together. If you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to introduce yourself, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's work together to make this school year memorable, fulfilling, and enriching for our students!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Lauren Roberts
