A Look Back and Ahead
We were thrilled to see so many parents and grandparents join us for our recent Celebration of Learning. I counted approximately 170 adults. It was wonderful to showcase our students hard work and talents.
Upcoming Events
- 13th December Friday Fun Day: Due to weather conditions, our Year 5-8 beach trip has been rescheduled to a fun day at school this Friday.
- 13th December Year 3/4 Beach Trip: Our Year 3/4 students are looking forward to their beach trip this Friday.
- 13th December School Council Disco: The Student Council has organized a disco this Friday, starting at 5 PM. Please pick up your child by 7 PM. The PTA are running a BBQ and drinks for the event.
- 16th December Year 8 Graduation Dinner.
- 16th December Student Report will be sent home on Monday afternoon.
- 16th December Our Year 8 students will have their farewell dinner at the Sherwood Golf Course on Monday night
- 16th December Parent Helpers "Thank you" Morning Tea
- 17th December Year Level Swaps: On Tuesday, students will have a chance to meet their new teachers and classmates for next year. We are still working through the employment of two teachers, therefore a couple of classes may not get to know their teacher on this day.
- 18th December End-of-Year Prize Giving: Our final day of school instruction and prize-giving ceremony will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM on the top covered court. Please arrive early and park as directed. The school grounds will be open for parking again from 8:45 to 9:20 when the gates will be closed for safety reasons. Please park in the same lines as we did for the celebration afternoon. The first line of cars park facing the school with bumpers lined up with the edge of the 100m track. This allows for safe exiting in rows.
Please note that the buses do not run on Wednesday and there is no After School Care. We anticipate that the Prize giving will round up around 11ish. Please make arrangements for picking up your children, thank you.
Thank you to all our parent volunteers who have made these events possible and for our whole community who have supported the school and children this year. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday break.

Rooms 9, 13 & 14 Matariki Masks
Room 9, 13 and 14 have created Paper Mache masks based on Matariki stars and Maori gods. We learned about the long and important way to make the masks. First we cut out any pieces that we wanted to add to our masks out of cardboard. Once this was done we could start applying paper. Layers upon layers of newspaper were glued onto the blank mask to create a 3D effect. This was done 3-5 times. After this we added 1-2 layers of newsprint to ensure that they were smooth and ready for paint. We painted one white coat of paint before we applied colour. We used colourful paint to bring our masks to life. These masks are a representation of our learning this year and will be held onto for years to come. The masks were shown off at our celebration of learning afternoon on Tuesday. We absolutely loved showing off our hard work.

Summer holiday's are looming. This can come with an increase in online gaming for your child or children.
