As far as we know, there have been no reports of Spring Creek/Matanzas families or staff members that have lost their homes. Some families and several staff members homes experienced serious smoke damage to their homes and property. Our hearts go out to these families in these extremely trying times.
We appreciate your understanding that some teachers have been able to Zoom, while others are just now returning to their homes to assess the damage. Many staff evacuated to places where they have very limited wifi.
Next Steps:
- School will remain closed to official distance learning on Monday and Tuesday, October 5th and 6th
- Distance Learning will resume on Wednesday, October 7th. Teachers will reach out with specific information. Students can not attend to new learning until they have re-established social emotional connection with their teachers and peers.
- We will start slow this week and teachers will be in contact with you regarding Zoom times and assignments. Please check your email and REMIND app communication from teachers.
- For this week only, Enrichment Wednesday will be moved to Friday, Oct. 9th.
Important: If you have not already completed your First Week of School Welcome Information, please help us so we have all of your updated information. In our new Student information System, it is called Registration which is confusing because you have already registered your student. This is different and it is very important that you complete the information. There are also places where you can check off if we can take photos of your student, etc. A step by step information sheet was included in your last materials pick up/exchange. if you need assistance, please call (707)538-3314.
New from the food Services: We now are offering Take & Bake Wednesdays. See flyers linked below for more information and the October menus in both Spanish and English.
School Site Council (SSC) & English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) Have been rescheduled:
SSC first meeting will be on Wednesday Oct. 28th at 9:30. ELAC first meeting is Wed. Oct 28th at 11:30 Please notify me at skearney@rvusd.org of your interest to join. An agenda is forthcoming.
Attendance: Call the Office to Avoid an Unexcused Absence
If you know that your child will be absent from class, please call the office 545-1771 and inform our office manager, Mrs. Hall or our clerk, Mrs. Ausiello. Sending a message to the teacher is kind, but does not replace calling the office to report the absence, tardy, or early out. We are keeping track of daily attendance, so it is very important that you communicate with us so that your child is not marked with an unexcused absence.

Three Tips to Help your Child be Successful During Distance Learning:
- Lay out clothes to wear the next morning
- Look at the daily/weekly schedule the teacher shared
- Help your child organize and layout the materials they need for the daily lessons
2. Provide a quiet work space for your child. Using earbuds or headphone can help eliminate background noise.
3. Praise and encourage them for logging on, sticking with it, showing respect, staying focused, completing a problem or two! Catch them making good choices.
