Welcome Back Letter to Families
Let's Get Rolling, 2024 - 2025!
Welcome 3rd Graders!
On the first day of school at CES, it's a cherished tradition to "clap in" our new 3rd graders as they walk down the hall for the first time. Our 4th and 5th graders lined the halls to warmly welcome the 3rd grade classes into the Coyote family. We are excited for all the opportunities that lie ahead in the next three years!
Do You Look For Ways to Get Involved?
2024-25 Committee Volunteer
Montgomery County Public Schools (VA) have a number of standing committees that meet regularly throughout each school year. These committees assist us by fostering productive dialogue and varied perspectives. We strive to build committees that reflect the diversity within our communities. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form.
Be a Part of the MCPS Literacy Team
We are looking for parents that are interested in having an active part in the continued development of the MCPS literacy plan. Please read this letter for more information.
Welcome New Coyotes!
We had a wonderful celebration last Friday as we sorted all of our 3rd graders and new CES students into their Houses! Ask your child which House they belong to—Inquisitive, Resolve, Compassion, or Zeal. This is an exciting part of our PBIS system, designed to reinforce positive behaviors.
Safety First With Car Riders
No Left Turn: Please remember, there’s no left turn when exiting the parking lot. A visual reminder is posted to assist.
Morning Drop-Off:
- If your child needs help getting out of the car, please pull into a parking spot to assist them.
- Signal to Mr. Sartin (our Physical Education teacher with the friendly smile) after parking. He will ensure you can safely exit the lot and that your child gets into the building securely.
- We close the cafeteria doors at 9:10. This allows all adults to be in class by 9:15 and ready to teach. If you are dropping your child between 9:10-9:15 you may drop them at the front of the building. They will ring the bell and we will let them in. You do not need to check them in prior to 9:15.
- If you arrive after 9:15 you will need to bring your child into the school.
Afternoon Pick-Up:
- We load approximately 15 cars at a time, prioritizing student safety.
- We will walk students to cars to ensure all are safely inside before releasing cars.
- Please stay in your car to avoid holding up traffic and to help us clear the roads quickly.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our car rider process smooth and safe for everyone!
School Lunch Accounts:
Account Reminders: We will send reminders when your child’s lunch account needs additional funds.
Timely Payments: Please try to clear any charges as soon as possible. It’s much easier to pay a smaller amount than to manage a large bill later.
End-of-Year Balance: Schools are required to cover overdue accounts at the end of the year. It would be wonderful if we could end the year with no outstanding balances.
Free and Reduced lunch forms: The form must be renewed annually. Requirements can change, so please complete the form—you never know if you qualify until you apply. Rest assured, when your child goes through the lunch line, no one knows if they receive free or reduced lunch, as all students simply enter their student ID. Link to the form.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us keep lunch accounts in good standing!
