Updates and Information
What a Wonderful Jefferson Jog!
We had another exciting Jefferson Jog, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! Our students, staff, and community members came together for a fun and energetic day. A special thank you to all the incredible volunteers and the MSU athletes who cheered on our JAGS—your support meant the world to us!
We are thrilled to announce that, together, we raised around $26,000… wow! We couldn’t have done it without our amazing Jefferson community. Thank you for playing such an important part in this successful event!
Choice School Update
We held our third task force meeting on Tuesday, October 9th. During the meeting, the team continued to explore various school choice models, analyzed district survey results, and discussed the benefits and challenges from a systems perspective to help guide our next steps.
We used survey data from Jefferson Elementary, Rosa Parks Elementary, and Bridges Community School families, along with district-wide results, as part of this evaluation. Key priorities were identified for each individual school, as well as from a broader, system-wide perspective.
These priorities will be crucial as we move forward in identifying recurring themes at each site. Our next steps include gathering additional input from staff and narrowing down themes using the following six key criteria:
Enrollment: Attracting new families and retaining existing ones.
Staff/Specialists: Shared staff, travel time, and specialty areas.
Alignment with Choice Look-Fors: Key characteristics identified from the survey results.
Professional Development/Resources: Needs for staff development and physical resources.
Space/Location: Feasibility, accessibility, and capacity to accommodate.
Student Achievement: Supporting high levels of academic performance.
Please refer to the updated visualization, as we are wrapping up phase 1 and beginning work on phase 2. Stay tuned to the newsletters for more information and next steps as we move forward with this exciting opportunity for our families and staff.

School Store
One tradition we have at Jefferson is offering a School Store on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. It will be set up outside of the office during lunch times and will be supervised by an adult and run by our 5th Grade Student Leadership Team Members. Students wanting to purchase an item(s) from the store should bring between $1-$5 dollars in a plastic baggie labeled with your student’s name. Students will be allowed to visit the school store once they have finished their lunch and can purchase items that range in price from 0.25 - $2.00. Funds from the school store are used to provide school wide items. For example, last year funds from the school store were used to purchase grade level playground equipment.
