No Fuss Fundraiser
The PSO has kicked off the annual No Fuss Fundraiser, which supports classroom enrichment, assemblies and other amazing programs for our students. Click here to donate or find instructions on this flyer.
PSO Party Helpers
The Room Parent Liaisons have gone through orientation and are excited to start planning their classroom parties! Besides one room parent, each homeroom is in need of three additional volunteers in grades K-2 and two additional volunteers in grades 3-5 to help during the parties. Also, there is an alternate volunteer spot in each classroom available that will be called upon if a volunteer is not able to make it. If you are interested in volunteering to help at a class party, please see the information below:
- Each family may only sign-up to volunteer for one party in their child's classroom at this time.
- The person volunteering must help throughout the whole party, please do not volunteer if you can’t be there the whole time.
- A background check is not required for the person volunteering for the party.
If you are unable to attend or all time slots are full, don’t worry you will still be able to contribute to the party. Each classroom will have their own sign-up for snacks, crafts and games as the parties get closer. We understand that a classroom may have more volunteers than spots allow, if that is the case, please consider volunteering during lunch or during any of the evening or weekend PSO events throughout the year.
Important note: The End of the Year party date/time has not been decided yet so it will not be included in this sign-up.
Please reach out to your Room Parent Liaisons or Grade Level Room Parent Coordinator with any questions.

PowerSchool Parent Access Grades 4 and 5
The Intermediate building is working on giving families in grades 4 and 5 parent access to PowerSchool. This is a new program we gained access to at the start of the school year and want to make sure it is being utilized well in order to communicate effectively with families. In the past, parents in grades 4 and 5 were given access to their child's grades, and we will soon be sending something out to families to continue this. Thank you for your patience.
Benchmark Assessment
Students in grades 3-5 will be taking the beginning of the year benchmark assessment for reading skills sometimes in the next two weeks:
- Students will take the reading diagnostic in i-Ready. The i-Ready Diagnostic for Reading assesses six domains (Phonological Awareness, Phonics, High Frequency Words, Vocabulary, Comprehension of Informational Text, and Comprehension of Literature).
These assessments will give our teachers baseline data for the year and measure whether a student is on track or not on track for reading at grade level according to the previous year’s end-of-year standards. All students who are not on track, based on these assessments will be provided a Reading Intervention Monitoring Plan (RIMP).
Our 3-5 students will also be administered the i-Ready math diagnostic to identify strengths and challenges in the five domains: Number and Operations, Algebra and Algebraic Thinking, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. Family reports will be sent home to families in mid-late October.
Lost and Found
Please bookmark these links for quick access.
When your child is missing an item, it will first appear in the grade level lost and found. At the end of the week, all unclaimed items will be moved to the main lost and found carts near the fieldhouse. Thank you to our PSO volunteers for helping to get this new process underway!
Just a reminder that all items sent to school should be labeled with your child's first and last name. This will allow any lost items to be returned!

Parking Lot Safety
Please be sure to obey ALL traffic signs in the parking lot. I frequently witness cars entering the lot where signs are clearly posted as an exit only. Also, there have been many cars trying to avoid the drop off line in the morning pulling into the lot and dropping kids off. Kids cannot e walking through the parking lot unattended. If you do not use the drop off loop, you MUST park and then walk your child to the door. Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe.

PBIS
At the heart of the PBIS program is the belief that recognizing and rewarding positive behaviors can help students develop intrinsic motivation.
Our students use a program called PAX. PAX is Latin for peace. The PAX program focuses on peace, productivity, health and happiness for all students. The goal of PAX is for students to be able to self-monitor and self-regulate their behavior in different settings. Behavior management is done in positive ways that provide immediate feedback to students. Students celebrate good decisions and appropriate behavior frequently.
Students are earning rewards for being positive PAX leaders throughout the day. The goal for the positive reinforcement is to improve behavior, character, and social competence and reduce aggression or bullying in schools.
Safety Drills
Every month, we are required to conduct safety drills in Ohio public schools. Last Thursday, we conducted a rapid evacuation drill commonly used in the event of a fire. Our students did an amazing job and followed the proper procedures by quickly evacuating the building and proceeding to their meeting points. I am proud of the students for listening and following the directions during this drill.
Throughout the school year, we will have various drills including, fire drills, tornado drills, lockdown drills, and shelter in place drills. We conduct these drills to practice in the event we must initiate any of these situations.
Counselor's Corner
The Intermediate counselors, Miss Hendershot and Miss Sostakowski are doing amazing work helping out students during classroom lessons and being visible to help any student in the cafeteria to the hallway. Please take a look at their newsletter below for more information about the curriculum they are teaching and the Kindness Kickoff!
Bee Keeper Drop Off
Families who utilize our before school and after school Beekeeper Program must park in a designated parking spot in the lot. Please do not park in the drop off loop. This is a fire lane. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
School Fees
School fees for students in grades 3rd grade through 5th grade are $85.00 ($65 instructional fee and $20 Technology Fee). You may pay these online at https://www.payschoolscentral.com or send a check payable to BBHES. Please note that unpaid fees may result in your child not attending upcoming field trips. School fee waivers are available to those families who qualify. An application must be completed. Please review the application information here

Lunch Menu for September
Here is the 3-5 Lunch Menu
Lost and Found
An updated lost and found process has been underway since last week and we are
already collecting items.
Items left behind at lunch or recess are being collected daily by grade level and taken to a collection point within each pod. Students should look for items at this location as soon as they realize an item got left behind.
At the end of each week these items are consolidated into the larger lost and found
collection area. Upon consolidation, volunteers will sort items looking for name tags
and deliver to classrooms accordingly. Help us reunite items with your child by ensuring all outerwear, sweatshirts, lunch boxes, and water bottles are clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name.
The consolidated collection point is where parents are able to look for items during the following hours:
Monday-Friday, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Sunday, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM > visit Blossom Hill Fieldhouse front desk
You may view items online. Please send questions to lostandfound.bbhespso@gmail.com.

Week One In The Books!
Thank you for a wonderful first week! I am still new here, but I quickly realized why BBHES is so special. The students and staff were just exceptional this week. I too couldn't wait to tell my mom and dad about my first day. Again, thank you for all the stickers...my helmet isn't big enough so my door will need some decorating. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Expectation Meeting Slides
Intermediate families, Miss McCauley and I reviewed the expectations slide with every student on Thursday and Friday. They were so well behaved by being respectful and giving us their undivided attention. Please feel free to review by clicking the button below. A few reminders

Message from PSO
The Parent School Organization (PSO) is running its annual membership drive. The PSO is the backbone of the BBHES's strong parent support system and provides an excellent opportunity for families to share the school experience with their children. PSO membership dues ($10 per family) support fun, educational programs for students. For more information, visit our website. We hope you will join us!
In addition to supporting various programs and events, we coordinate volunteers. We are currently recruiting room parents. Want to be a Room Parent Liaison? It is a volunteer position that assists the classroom and teacher. Their function is to facilitate communication between the teacher and parents. Additionally, the Room Parent Liaison(s) are responsible for planning class parties and sending supplies/snack sign-ups. Each Room Parent will be allowed to attend two of the four class parties.
Applications will be accepted until the end of the day on Friday, September 6th.
*Room Parents are REQUIRED to be background checked via the district’s vendor. It’s no cost to you, so hop on over to this LINK to submit yours today! PSO Membership is also required.
Please know all room parent selections are made as fairly as possible, using a random selection process. Unfortunately, not everyone who applies will be selected.
If you have any questions, please email Sarah Pribble, 2nd VP Volunteer Coordinator at volunteervp.bbhespso@gmail.com.

The Intermediate staff and myself are excited to welcome our third, fourth, and fifth grade students back to school tomorrow, August 21, 2024. - Beekeeper families must park in the lot and enter the building to sign in their child. There is absolutely no parking in the front loop at any time.

- Please review the traffic flow map for arrival and dismissal.
August 17, 2024
The purpose of this newsletter is to share important arrival and dismissal procedures, band informational meeting, a message from food service, school fees and the slide deck from our New Family Orientation last week. Please review them and reach out to Miss McCauley or myself with any questions. The information in my newsletters will be specific to our third through fifth grade students and families. If you have students in kindergarten through second grade, please refer to Mrs. Toth's newsletter for news from the primary school.
This year, BBHES will be operating as two schools under one roof. The intermediate school will house our third grade through fifth grade students and our primary school will house our kindergarten through second grade students. I will be leading the 3-5 Intermediate school with Miss McCauley as my associate principal; Mrs. Toth and Mr. Hartland will be leading the primary school. We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to building lasting relationships with the students and families at BBHES.
FIrst Day Signs
BBHES families are encouraged to celebrate their student’s first day of school by sharing photos of their student with a First Day of School Sign on social media. Families can download and print a First Day of School Sign for their student’s grade level below.
Third Grade
Fourth Grade
Fifth Grade
Throughout your student's first day of school for the 2024-2025 School Year, take a moment to snap a picture with their First Day of School Sign and share it using #BBHeritage on your favorite social media platform, being sure to tag the District and building, which can be found on Facebook, @bbhcsd and Instagram, @bbhschools.
The First Day of School and I need stickers please
My 4th grader and 7th grader begin school on Monday, and my high schooler starts on Tuesday. Naturally, I am more nervous than excited because of the unknown :) Miss McCauley and I understand this, but so does the amazing staff at BBH. Your child will be in great hands!
On a totally different note, I do have a scooter to get around faster to see students and staff. However, I have a helmet that needs some decorating. If your child has a sticker that they don't mind putting on my helmet, I would be happy to use it. This is going to be a great year!
Meet and Greet Nights
Just a reminder that our third grade families will have an opportunity to meet their teachers, drop of supplies, pay school fees, and see their new classmates next week. The third grade meet and greet is scheduled for Monday at 5:00pm.
Miss McCauley and I met so many wonderful families Thursday and yesterday during meet and greet nights. Seeing the smiles and excitement on the faces of the students made the last two nights special for us and we are so looking forward to seeing our students ready to go on Wednesday.
Important Dismissal Reminders
- All PikMyKid accounts have been defaulted to "Bus". All families must download the app and make the necessary change in PikMyKid for car pick-up, afterschool beekeepers, walkers, or afterschool clubs. Please default your account to the dismissal mode your child will use on a regular basis. Daily and reoccurring changes can be made by clicking on the dates needed for a change within the app. If you do not change your child's dismissal mode prior to the first day of school, your child will ride the bus home on that day. For more information on downloading Pikmykid, please reference the information below.
- Any changes in dismissal modes must be changed in your Pikmykid account no later than 2:30 pm. If you need assistance with this process, please email or call Mrs. Maria Camperchioli.
- Display all car tags so they can be easily seen by our dismissal team. All families were provided a tag during the Meet and Greets. Please keep them in your cars even if car pick-up is not your primary mode. We use these tags in the event of an emergency as well.
- Please be sure to obey ALL traffic signs in the parking lot. I frequently witness cars entering the lot where signs are clearly posted as an exit only. Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe.
- If you need to pick up your child early, please make sure to park, come in, and sign out your child prior to 2:45 pm. No early dismissals after this time. We will not release a child to an adult without the proper identification, so please bring your driver's license.
- All walkers and bikes will be picked up on the sidewalk near the preschool. A staff member will cross the students and meet families on the north side of the property. Parents are not permitted to pick up walkers/bikers at the building/doors.
Additional PickMyKid Information
BBHES will continue to use the PikMyKid dismissal application this school year just like last year. The student information should still be populated in the program. Your child's car tag number should remain the same as last school year. All families will get a car tag which can be picked up at the Meet and Greets.
If you are not familiar with the app, please download it and review the information below.
PikMyKid is a dismissal software that is intended to simplify dismissal, reduce traffic congestion, and most importantly, improve overall safety. The unique features of PikMyKid allow you, as parents, to easily change pick-up modes, quickly delegate to an alternate individual for pickup, change to an ‘After School’ program, and even schedule for future pickup mode, pickup individual, and after-school programs. This app allows you to be in full control of your child’s dismissal and it gives the school information regarding dismissal and the ability to acknowledge every change and instantly check your child’s dismissal status should you have a question.
To Learn a little more on your own, please check out the following link that will show you a few of the PikMyKid features. https://www.pikmykid.com/features/for-parents/
All families will need to download the application and complete the registration process if not already done.

Dear Families,
Hello, I am Robert Magyar, Brecksville-Broadview Heights Intermediate School's new principal. Like your kiddos, my daughters are getting ready to begin the school year too. I have a child in elementary, middle school, and high school, so I too have trouble keeping track of the school supplies. Thank goodness for my amazing wife. I continue to hear and experience why this community and school is so wonderful. BBH is a truly special place that I am lucky to be part of. This will be my 20th year in education, and 11th as an administrator. I can honestly say, I haven't been this excited for a school year to begin and look forward to meeting and seeing so many of you here soon.
We are a few weeks away from the start of the 2024-2025 school year. We hope you have had an enjoyable summer break spending quality time with family and friends. Our students in grades one through five will officially begin on August 21, 2024, with our kindergarten students officially starting on Monday, August 26, 2024.
Please note that the school day for the elementary school is 9:00 am - 3:35 pm. Doors will open at 8:45 am. Please do not drop your students off prior to that time as there is no supervision available. We are all excited to work with our BBH Elementary families to make this a wonderful school year for our students.
Please review the start-of-year information below and reach out with any additional questions. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in just a few weeks! Enjoy the remaining days of summer!
