Gold Rated Officer Books

Carol Beck, Eva Schadewald, and Makayla Tellier received Gold Rated Officer Books. These books keep a record of the chapter's activities and finances. These members will be recognized during the Ohio State FFA Convention.

Exec Team Applications

Exec Team Applications are open! Apply by February 11th to join next year's exec team or as an assistant exec team member. Applications are hanging on the whiteboard in room 173. See Mrs. Bockbrader or Ms. Kreais with any questions!

Agbusiness

Sales has been the topic of the month in Agbusiness. Students have learned the steps in a sales call that helps build customer relationships so they would hopefully become repeat customers. They also continue to build their own business plans.

AFNR 1

AFNR 1 is taking a deep dive into FFA history! They've learned about important events, the FFA Creed, the Emblem, Official Dress, and the New Farmers of America.

AFNR 2

AFNR 2 students have selected an animal area to study over the next month. They have started off with external anatomy, specie terms and genetics. Throughout the month they will learn how to evaluate animals, care for them and learn about animal nutrition.

STEM Connect

A new semester means new STEM students! They started off the month learning about the origins of agriculture and the switch from hunting and gathering to sedentary communities.

Understanding Food

Students presented their research projects this month as part of their semester exam. Then we started the second semester off with Food Processing. Students have learned how to use a hot water bath canner and how to grind food. They canned strawberry jam and pepper rings, and ground pork shoulders into sausage.

Welding and Small Engines

Students wrapped up their welding unit this month and are beginning to learn about electricity. They learned about SMAW (stick), MIG (wire), and oxy-fuel welding processes, as well as how to cut with oxy-fuel and plasma.

SAE of the Month

Makayla Tellier

Each month we will highlight one student who has been selected as the SAE of the Month. This month we are highlighting Makayla Tellier. Makayla is a senior in the Welding and Small Engines class. For her SAE, Makayla works for Wheeler Farms. She teaches customers about agriculture, from butterflies to evergreens. She has worked for Wheeler Farms for the past few years and even used this experience to apply for a proficiency award through Ohio FFA. Great job Makayla!

Department Student of the Month

Stella Smith: Understanding Food, Agbusiness, and Agbusiness Early Release

Stella is in two classes this year and I am always so impressed by her dedication to her coursework. I could tell through exam that she took both seriously as she scored a 100% on both courses, which was only achieved by one other classmate. She asks great questions and is always making sure she is on track for learning. I also loved this quote from her manager at work recently: " I just wanted to let you know Stella is exceptional, she treats our residents with total respect and kindness. Last night, after her shift she went to visit a resident, just hung out and painted her nails. It made the residents week!".
