TOWN & COUNTRY INSIDER
WINTER 2024
WELCOME
An update from Shevaun Etier, Executive Director:
Dear Families,
I am always amazed how quickly the Fall semester goes, the hustle and bustle makes the time fly! I want to take this opportunity to share some exciting news with you. Town & Country School was nominated By Governor Kevin Stitt for the Yass Award for Educational Freedom. We are one of 6 schools in Oklahoma to receive this award! The award comes with a prize of $150,000. It was given to us to support new student enrollment and provide a foundation for our school to become sustainable over time with the use of the Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit Act. We are in the planning phase as to how to best utilize the funds. As your Executive Director, I promise to keep students at the forefront of every decision we make as a school. We will strive to teach and provide students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to have a successful future. I am proud to lead Town & Country School into the future.
Greetings from Kathy Murphy, Board Chairman:
Hi! My name is Kathy Murphy, and I am a mother of 2 beautiful daughters and the wife of my husband of 31 years. I have lived in Tulsa for the most part of 26 years. I became interested in Town and Country School after my girls went off to college and we began the empty nesting stage. My youngest daughter had learning disabilities and I remember what a scary and uncertain time that was for us. I decided that helping other parents through that uncertainty was where I wanted to spend my newfound free time. A tour of Town and Country led to becoming a board member and I have been on the board for 6 years and I have been president of the board the last four years. It is such an amazing place for those who need it. The teachers and staff are amazing, and I appreciate all the work and love this place offers the learning different students.
What's New
Meet Our New High School History Teacher, Annie Baker
I got into teaching because I had several educators growing up that put the extra effort in when it came to being my teacher. They inspired me to also want to help others through teaching. I absolutely love what I do because I absolutely love learning, and I hope to instill that same love of learning in my students. I personally have autism and ADHD, which I feel makes me more understanding of the students at Town and Country. I also am a lover of popsicles, dinosaurs, anime, my husband, and enjoy my free time at home!
