TCS News to Know
For the Week of March 17, 2025
Dear Families,
The school year is flying by, and spring is quickly approaching! This means that spring state testing is also right around the corner. As directed by the Michigan Department of Education, Tekonsha Community Schools will be participating in the required standardized testing for students in grades 3-11. All testing will begin in April, the first week after we return from Spring Break. Students in grades 3-8 and 11 will take the online M-Step (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress). Students in grades 8-11 will also take the College Board PSAT/SAT assessments. These will also be delivered in an online format.
Please be sure to look at the testing calendar and ensure that your student will be present for all testing days. Students will be participating in some digital readiness checks prior to Spring Break to ensure that all of the technology is ready for them to be successful, so attendance at this time is very important as well!
March is Reading Month Continues!
"Score Big With Books" Guest Readers
One of the ways that Tekonsha Elementary is celebrating their March is Reading Month Theme of "Score Big With Books" is by having our Tekonsha High School student athletes serve as guest readers to elementary classrooms each week! Students at all grade levels, including the high schoolers, have enjoyed the special story time!

Elementary Leprechaun Escapes Again!
Students at Tekonsha Elementary tried their best to catch that pesky leprechaun that seems to show up year after year on St. Patrick's Day! This year, students made their traps to try to catch him, but once again, he got away!!! To see lots of pictures highlighting the fun, be sure to check out the Tekonsha Community Schools Facebook page!
Swimming Lesson Opportunity
As we enter spring, with summer just around the corner, it's important for parents to start thinking about water safety and the life-saving skills of students knowing how to swim. Albion College recently released information on swimming lessons for students of all ages. Spring swimming lessons are also available at the Dr. Robert W. Browne Aquatic Center in Coldwater. While neither of these are related to the school or school sponsored, we wanted to make sure to share opportunities to keep our students safe this summer!

2025-26 Kindergarten Registration
We are excited to begin our planning for the 2025-26 school year with kindergarten registration for the Class of 2038! This year, we will again hold registration in a large group program format, with an informational presentation on what to expect in kindergarten, time to complete all of the required enrollment forms, an opportunity for us to make copies of the important student and parent papers, a tour of the building, and time for the student to spend time in the classroom with the teacher. If you cannot attend on the scheduled date and time, please still complete the form to show interest in enrolling and someone will contact you with enrollment information!
