Immunizations
All incoming Begindergarten, Kindergarten, and 7th Grade Students must be up-to-date on their immunizations by this fall. Lapeer County Health Department has the Tdap., Meningitis, and Chickenpox (varicella) vaccines along with all CDC and ACIP recommended vaccines available for children needing them to meet school requirements.
Call 810-667-0448 to see if your child’s immunizations are up-to-date before the new school year this fall. If you choose to get a waiver, you must make an appointment with the Lapeer County Health Department to receive one.

Dear Cardinal Families,
Welcome back! We are excited you are here: Dryden Elementary- where it all begins!
Our vision is to build on the already amazing things we have going on and move our school to the next level. We will focus on creating and maintaining a positive school culture, instilling and nurturing a growth mindset for all, and making data-driven decisions.
We have a number of new staff: Mrs. Abromaitis is our new principal. Our new teachers include: Mrs. Adams (1st grade), Mrs. Birkett (5th grade), Mrs. Bonesteel (6th grade), Ms. Gorski (4th grade), Mrs. Palmerini (3rd grade), Mrs. Sawicki (Kindergarten) and Ms. Sobek (tech).
Several teachers have changed grade levels or positions in the building: Mrs. Lowe, formerly Ms. Hoisington (1st grade), Mrs. Howell (6th grade), Mrs. Maday (math coach and interventions), Mrs. Raymer (2nd grade), and Mrs. Roys (literacy and interventions).
But don’t worry; there will still be some familiar faces in their normal places: Ms. Haddad and Ms. Highley (special education), Mrs. Campbell (Kindergarten), Mrs. Klann (music/band), Mrs. Margrif (gym), and Mrs. Torok (art).
Drop off, Pick up, and Parking:
Student safety is priority one. Please use CAUTION and extend grace and kindness.
Parking: Spaces in front of the building are limited to 10-minute parking during school hours. If you have business with the school that exceeds 10 minutes, please park in the north parking lot. For everyone’s safety, the front of the building is not a designated drop-off or pick-up spot. All Early Childhood program parking has been re-assigned: INFANTS through THREE-YEAR-OLDS will be in the back of the building in the southeast corner parking lot. ALL FOUR-YEAR-OLD TUITION PRESCHOOL, GSRP, and HEADSTART will park in the north parking lot.
Drop-off: The building will open at 8:15 a.m. Busses will drop students off in the back of the building on the service drive. Parents may use the loop lane next to the sidewalk in the north lot to drop off students. This lane is NOT for standing or parking in the morning. It MUST be a continuous loop for traffic to flow properly off of Mill Street. Parents who wish to escort their children to the building must park in a parking spot. Students may not be dropped off in front of the building unless school is already in session for the day.
Pick-up: Teachers will escort students out of the building at dismissal time. Students riding the bus will board the bus. Students who are being picked up will meet their parents at the designated location. The loop lane in the north lot is reserved for those who need it and is limited to the number of cars that fit alongside the sidewalk. If the sidewalk spaces are full, parents must park and walk to meet their children. We cannot have cars blocking the bus lane or flowing onto Mill Street waiting in the loop lane as this is a safety hazard. Parents who need the loop lane should not exit the car and walk to meet their child. The loop lane should clear out quickly and safely. Again, please use care and caution. Teachers will then escort the students who walk out the front doors of the building.
COVID- 19 Mitigation Strategies:
We must prepare to be flexible and fluid regardless of our personal position as the narrative continues to change almost daily with regard to this topic. We are monitoring the situation closely. As in the past, we will follow the guidelines set forth by federal, state, and/or local authorities. We will continue to do our best at social distancing when possible, regular cleaning and sanitizing, and encouraging good personal hygiene. Masks are recommended in the school building in accordance with CDC guidelines.
At this time, we are offering in-person learning only for students in grades K-5 at Dryden Elementary School.
We will offer synchronous learning in the first semester for students in grade 6 with the following expectations:
To the extent possible, students will notify teachers by 7:00 a.m. via email that they will attend synchronously.
Students must be up and ready to learn when class begins.
Students must participate in class, including turning on cameras, speaking via microphone when asked to do so, typing thoughts into the chat, and contributing to class discussions.
Students must remain in camera view during class.
If students do not answer when asked to speak, they will be marked absent from class.
Students must have reliable technology, including an internet connection, camera, microphone, and a way to submit completed work. Chromebooks will be issued to students.
Athletes must attend classes in person on game days and post-game days.
State assessments must be completed in the school building.
Unlike last year when a credit/no credit option was given to students at higher grade levels, letter grades will be assigned for coursework this year.
