Our School
Student Dress Code and warmer weather
As we move into spring and the warmer weather (yay!), we want to take a moment to remind families about our dress code. Many of the items that fit well last summer may no longer meet the guidelines, as growing young people often outgrow their clothing more quickly than expected.
Spring Break is a great time to check wardrobes and make sure that shorts, skirts, and other warm-weather attire still align with our dress code. If needed, this is also a good opportunity to pick up a few new items to ensure students are dressed appropriately for school. Thank you for your attention to this as we head into the new season!

We are excited to invite you to our Student-Led Conferences, a special opportunity for students to showcase their learning and achievements from the entire school year. During these conferences, students will present their own work, reflecting on their growth and development in various subjects. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate their progress and hard work!
Thursday, April 17, has been set aside for this purpose. School will not be in session that day. Please sign up for a time to come to school with your child for this conference. The conferences are required.

St. John’s Safe School Environment: Parent Resources
Our Safe School Environment Policy, has recently been updated to create a clearer and more comprehensive document for families and staff. This update is part of our ongoing commitment to caring for one another and reflects our shared responsibility for the safety of all of our children and adults. The updated policy has been approved by the School Ministry Team and is now in effect. All families should familiarize themselves with the policy and discuss it as appropriate with their children.
Please take particular note of our school expectations regarding the safe storage of guns at home and ensuring that children do not have access to weapons. Parental failure to comply with these expectations may result in serious consequences, including reporting to law enforcement. BeSMART has resources and support to ensure your items are stored securely. Additionally, we encourage parents to continue these safety conversations with their children, and with other families hosting playdates.
Thank you for your continued partnership in taking care of one another and keeping St. John's ELC and K-8 School a place where all of our children can thrive.
Gun Safety Awareness Training, March 11
We are grateful for Trooper Pratt, from the Colorado State Patrol, for sharing a very important message about gun safety with our K-8 students and many parents, this week. If you would like to see a copy of his presentation, please click the links below (please note that the short videos in the presentation will not play through these links).
Reading Rockstars
A very special thank you to Stacey, Oleysa, Kelly, Alli, Kathy, Sarah, Laura and Sheri for being our Reading Rockstars for the month of March, and for working with our K-2 students to give them extra practice in their reading. We appreciate every one of you.
A Reading Rockstar commits to volunteering for 4 consecutive weeks, dedicating 30-60 minutes each week to work one-on-one or with small groups of students in a classroom setting. While it may be possible to work with your own child or their class, this is not guaranteed. Your involvement will play a crucial role in supporting our students as they develop strong reading habits that will benefit them for years to come. Thank you for joining us in fostering a love of reading!
